First grade standard that was covered in previous school year: L 1.2c Use commas in dates and to separate single words in a series. The students could tie together their reading and writing lessons with this language skill. Have the students write another student and have them try to persuade them to read a certain Cinderella story. Have them justify why they believe, in their opinion, why it is the best.
