Please Note: We will start today's Webex by making jelly! Students will then create a recipe withtheir teacher online. If you are not able to attend today's Webex we recommend that you create asimple food with your child today, and follow the steps below:

● Make, or talk about a simple food you make all the time. Jelly, Fairy bread, toast, even a bowl of their favourite cereal!

● Review what they learnt about recipes this morning during their reading task.● Begin by working out a title. This is often the purpose or goal we will achieve once

we have followed the steps. For example: Making Fairy Bread, How to Make Jelly.● Explain that we always include:

○ A title○ What you will need to complete the task, in this case equipment and

ingredients.○ Each step that you need to do to complete the task!

● Support them as they write a simple recipe. For example:

Making a Bowl of Fruit Loops○ Ingredients and Equipment

■ Fruit Loops■ Milk■ Small bowl■ Spoon

○ Method■ Open the Fruit Loops.■ Pour some into the bowl.■ Carefully pour the milk over them.■ Gobble them up before they get soggy!

● Remind them that procedural texts are like writing a list.○ Each new idea is a new line.○ Each line starts with a capital letter, and ends with a full stop.

Extension: Student editing - Once you have completed your writing, use a different colouredpencil, and double check your simple sentences. Does each one start with a capital letter? Are yourend marks in the correct place? If you read your work out loud, does each sentence make sense onit’s own?

BREAK: Ensure students have a well-earned break with snack, rest and a game/physical activity.MATHS - NUMBER: MONEYLearning Intention:I can investigate money from other countriesSuccess Criteria:I have compared Australian currency to money from around the world.

● Last week we introduced the topic of Money, where we looked at Australian coins andidentified their features (shape, size, image on the tails side, who is on the heads, howmuch each coin is worth, 100 cents makes 1 dollar, etc.)

● Today we are looking at coins from across the world and see if your child can identify theAustralian coins. Look at the image below.

● Did your child find the Australian coins? If they did not you can point them out and discusshow we can tell they’re Australian coins.

● Now let’s look at the features of some of the other coins (holes in the middle, colours, pictures, people, how much they are worth, etc.)

● Ask your child to draw a Venn diagram (like in the image below) and fill out features only onthe Australian coins, the features of other coins and in the middle features both types ofcoins have in common.

Extension: Do you have foreign coins in your home? If you do you can show your child to give thema real life example that they can look at in more detail. Ask them what they can identify aboutthese coins that are the same and different in comparison to Australian coins.

SPELLING VOCABULARYLearning Intention:I can investigate interesting words.Success Criteria:I have learnt about the word triumphant.

Learning Resources Required:Workbook and pencils.

Learning Task:● We are exploring a new word today. Ask your child if they know what triumphant means?● Work out a definition using children friendly language.● feeling excited after a victory or achievement● Write triumphant at the top of the page.● This week we are going to use the word of the week in a sentence.● Ask your child, when have you felt really proud and triumphant after a success? Write that

in a sentence. For example: I felt triumphant when I learnt how to do a handstand!● Draw a picture that helps them remember the meaning of the word.

BREAK: Ensure students have a well-earned break with lunch, rest and a game/physical activity.POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNINGLearning Intention:I can listen to what others have to say and wait my turn.Success Criteria:I have understood the importance of showing respect to others by listening and waiting my turn.

Learning Resources Required:Workbook, pencils, and a digital device.

Learning Task:● Today we will be discussing the importance of taking turns in conversations.● Conversations are like playing a game of tennis. While one person is talking, the other

person is listening and receiving the information. Then, it is the other person’s turn to talk.Just like in tennis, one person hits the ball and the other person waits to receive it.

● Review and think about:○ Why is it important to wait your turn to talk?○ What makes a good listener?○ What might happen if you talk while another person is talking?

● Practice listening to what others have to say and waiting your turn by watching andanswering the scenario questions in the video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XKA5gFzTbo

● Further practice your listening skills and wait your turn to talk by playing ‘I Went to theShops’ with family members.

○ One family member starts off the shopping list by saying “I went to the shops todayand bought…” something.

○ The next member in the family continues by saying the precious item and addingtheir own item! For example; “I went to the shops and bought apples and bananas.”

○ Make sure each family member takes their turn and then start from the beginningperson again, working through the alphabet and adding items to the list until youreach Z.

● After completing this game discuss with a family member:○ If you didn't listen to others in this game and wait your turn would it have worked?

Why or why not?○ Why is it so important to show others respect by listening and waiting your turn?
