Let’s talk cars. If you could have any make/model of car out there, which would you choose? Why that one? For a lot of people, their dream car has to do with speed. They want something fast and flashy. (Nothing wrong with that, BTW)On the next slide, you’ll be asked to match popular cars with their top speed. Ready?

So what does this have to do with reading?

Quite a lot, actually.

You wouldn’t use the Lamborghini when you need the golf cart.

“You gotta read faster!” “You gotta slow down!”

Which is it?

It’s both.

You need to match your reading rate to the task at hand, just like matching the cars to the speeds.
