WHO IS THIS GUY AND WHY IS HE CODING MY APP?

• Usually coding by themselves but sometimes has a posse with them.

• Will usually under-bid any job just to get it.• When you say that’s not in the budget; will simply

undercut their bid, sometimes by 50%• Likes to disappear when things get tough.• Will always disappear when the money runs out.

DEVELOPER DO’S• Get multiple quotes.

• Have goals around what you are building.

• Read your contract.

• Get an SOW before starting.

• Ask for references of things they have built and contacts.

• Include a stakeholder that will have no less than weekly check-ins. Daily check-ins are optimal.

DEVELOPER DON’TS• Haggle with your developer. Would you ask your lawyer for a

discount? Your accountant?

• Be elusive about your budget.

• Think they know everything about your business.

• Take the cheapest bid just because they are cheaper.

• Think your developer can do it all and do it from a spec you provided.

• Add scope after the project has started. That will have to wait.13
