Decorating your space with some personal elements is one of the easiest ways to turn your house into

a home. These pieces can refl ect places you’ve been, people you know, or experiences that you never want to forget. They are articles that tell the story of who you are and remind you how you got to where you are today. There are also accents that soften an empty corner, add an infusion of colour to an otherwise stark wall, or make the room brighter and livelier.

MIRRORS: They serve the purpose of refl ecting light and a view back into a space. They can be strategically placed to brighten up the darkest of hallways, the drabbest of dining rooms and the most mundane entry way. They provide the illusion of more space and add a certain sparkle to any room.

It is because of this that I love them so much! There are many interesting frames, in lots of different shapes and sizes. There are even mirrors for hanging in your exterior space.

PLANTS: Not only do they clean our interior air space but they also add colour, texture and a certain softness to the home. We aren’t always

blessed with a green thumb, but there are many faux varieties out there that will do just fi ne.

FRUIT: One of two things always happens without fail when I decorate with real fruit - they go bad long before I am ready to switch them out or someone comes along and eats the fruit, throwing off the numbers.

For this reason, I usually use imitation. Green apples, lemons, and pears are my staples for adding a pop of colour.

FRAMES: Frames are a great way to add a personal touch to your room. I love catching glimpses of great memories while doing everyday tasks around my home, like cleaning or laundry. They are also one of the fi rst things that my guests ask me about
