get real.

People always say “The sky is the limit.” We’ve never really understood that expression at LeTourneau University. For more than 40 years, our students have been soaring into the skies and then soaring into awesome careers as commercial aviators, missionary pilots, A&P mechanics and even into military jet programs.

This issue of LeTourneau Realities will give you a good idea what it’s like to be a student at LeTourneau University. We’re giving some props to our aeronautical science program, but it’s only one of more than 60 degrees you can get here.

With awesome programs in the arts and sciences, business, education, and engineering, as they say, the sky is the limit to where you will go. If you want a degree in aeronautical science, not even the sky will limit you.

Check out the rest of the story at www.letu.edu/realities.

then, get back to us.

Instead of choosing to relax and soak up the sun on the beach, many LETU students spend their spring break traveling the world doing construction work, hosting Bible schools, getting dirty and loving every minute of it.

“The team that went to Tamazunchale, Mexico, this year laid the foundation for the eighth church LeTourneau University students have been a part of constructing over the past 20 years.” —Michael DeGroat, LeTourneau Student Ministries president

“I don’t go out to help people just because it will make me feel good. I was just doing what God put me here to do. They really needed our help.”

More than 175 students traveled this year in 16 groups to 4 different countries. There were seven different trips taken to locations in Mexico, four trips within the United States, and a handful of others that went to Honduras, Israel, and other exotic locations around the world. LETU missions trips have impacted many lives over the years, both those of the students and staff who choose to take them, and those of the people who are served.

performingartsyou don’t have to go to New York

to see the world’s greatest shows.

From the Longview Symphony Orchestra to Skillet, Decipher Down, Phil Keaggy, or STOMP, there is always some-thing hot performing at LeTourneau’s Belcher Chapel and Performance Center.

Grading Scale:

C - Built it. It doesn’t work.

B - Built it. It mostly works.

A - Built it. It works. Came close to setting building on fire. Fire department called. Building evacuated. Administration questioned whether this con-test is actually intended to teach anything or simply cause major heat and smoke damage to university facilities.

The Rube Goldberg Competition challenges LETU engineering students to use a maximum number of energy transitions to create a unique, yet trivial invention. Rube Goldberg was an early 20th century cartoonist who was famous for making ridiculous machines that required numerous energy transitions to accomplish the most insignificant tasks.

What are you into? In the Outdoor Club at LeTourneau, we camp on isolated mountains, backpack through frigid rivers, ride bikes beneath the shadows of the tall East Texas pines, and canoe in the placid waters of Caddo Lake. Come to experience the great outdoors and discover God on a whole new level. Outdoors Club — it’s who we are, it’s what we do. “Hours of studying has a certain effect on young adults: it tells us we are limited when our entire beings scream for adventure. Break-ing the monotony with fresh scenery and a few physical challenges drastically alters our inner inspiration and enthusiasm for life’s challenges. The world is a better place when we learn to take time to enjoy God’s little mysteries.” —Hannah Rogers, Outdoor Club President
