NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2012
President’s Message
Newsletter Editor: Tracee Bougger
2702 South Street
Lincoln, NE 68502
Email: [email protected] PH:
September has come and gone way to fast.
Kids/Grandkids are back in school, football
games are going strong, and the car shows
are waning. We still have a few left in
October to attend. Check our newsletter for
a schedule. Thanks to all the participants
for Nebraska's Homecoming. I was able to attend the poker run for Jerry
Stephens in Pawnee City. I saw a few Rebels
and Lincoln people. It was a beautiful day
for a drive. Proceeds went to the Jerry
Stephens Museum at his gas station in Pawnee
City. Jerry died of cancer a few years back
and the museum reflects a lot of his cars
and memorabilia. Another poker run is set
up for Jerry's museum which starts in Hallam
at the Wimmer's and ends in Pawnee City at
the winery. This takes place on October
13th. Get the car out and cruise one last
time and enjoy the fall trees. The board announced the organizations for
donations. They will be distributed in the
next couple of weeks. Watch the newspaper
for an article on the Rebels. The board is
looking into more/different organizations
that support the automotive field. Please attend the Rebels' Halloween Party on
November 3rd at the Masters'. There will be
good food, prizes for best costumes and
karaoke. Hopefully, there is an early game
time that Saturday. We are still taking nominations for
President, Treasurer and an At Large
position on the board. We will be voting on
officers at the December meeting at Parkers.
If you haven't had the opportunity to serve
the club, please nominate yourself or have
someone do it for you. These can be very
rewarding positions and fresh ideas are
always needed. A big thank you to Mark for the $2200 check
he presented to the club at the last meet-
ing. The cone races and SCCA have been a
big boost to the contributions for the Re-
bels. Thanks again for all the volunteers
who worked the races. I look forward to seeing everyone at the
next meeting. Hope to see you all on the
road soon! Cary Petersen, President

been 5 years since they moved their event to Lincoln and
they’ve been privileged to have the Rebel’s involved for 4
years. This year on the practice track there were 3,000
runs. SCCA fund their foundation which sponsors the
Street Survival program, which is a teen driving program.
This year they donated $7,000 to that program. They pre-

will be electing a president, treasurer and one at large.

these members if you would like to run for an office or to
nominate someone.
Sheryl talked about the scholarships for this year. We only
had 3 applications. There was discussion about funding
other options for next year. SCC does offer a summer camp
for high school students over 16. It’s possible to give schol-
arships for that program and we will get more information
on that program for consideration or next year.
Cary said we are still in need of a club photographer. It was
also pointed out that anyone who attends an event can take
pictures and send them to Tracee for the newsletter or Gary
Willey to go onto the website.
