    that the Prophet (saw)s condition was not well +nd few narrations which T% has itself postedregarding this incident pro#e that he fainted during this incident, which clearly indicates that hewas not feeling wellThirdly, we need to understand hadhyaan or delirium, and see if it is caused "y mental illnessonly, or it can "e caused "y 9e#er or poisonous effects and due to other reasons as well

    $t should "e understood that this incident happened only once $t didnt happen twice or more

    The narrations ha#e slight differences which is common, and we ha#e to understand whatactually happened 9rom the narrations that T% has mentioned, we understand the followingpoints*

    : This incident happened on Thursday; Prophet (saww) was not feeling well, and according to some narrations, the Prophet (saw)

    fainted during this incident1 The Prophet (saw) told the people who were present to "ring a pen and paper/ -e wanted to write down something which could ser#e as guide to people

    A%o that $ might write to you a statementC $t is said that theProphet (saw) wanted to write a"out someone who would "e hisaliph after him, thus ensuring that no sedition (fitna) would ariseafter him, and some says that he had wanted to write somethingrelating to ahkaam pertaining to &uristic matters so as to pre#ent

    misunderstanding amongst his 3mmah, and "y it, the unity ofpurpose in implementing the religion should "e achie#ed TheProphet (saw) persisted on asking a"out writing that statementwhen he saw that it was for the interest of the 3mmah to do so, andthat he was "eing ordered through re#elation to do the same andthe order from the hea#en will definitely supersede the the firstassumption

    A$s he in a delirious state of mindC This indicates that thespeaker aimed at stopping what was re2uested "y saying, theperson was in the state of delirium and that he was not fit to writeanything6 This meaning is clear when we pay attention at the root

    This translation has few pro"lems

    RTS says :

    [Is he in a delirious state of mind?...] This indicates that the speaker aimed at stopping what was

    requested y saying! the person was in the state of delirium and that he was not fit to writeanything" This meaning is clear when we pay attention at the root word of #$a%ara and

    &ah%uru.# Imam 'n()awawi says in his commentary of this! #If it is correct that *mar did saythat! it has een said y mistake and without his own consciousness from what was happening

    efore his eyes +*mar, of the sickness of the -rophet +saw,! and that he was in shock and

    unknowing what to do while the -rophet +saw, was dying.#

    3mars 'ilm al ghay"' this did not take place

    ets suppose that the Prophet (saww) would ha#e wanted to write down once again that peopleshould follow .uran and +hlel"ayt to a#oid misguidance But e#en if we say for a moment thatit couldnt ha#e "een written down "y 3mar "ecause he realiQed it somehow due to ilm alghay" or whate#er reason, still this narration was recorded "y scholars from the first century of$slam till this century, and e#en then people ha#e fallen into misguidance %o what differencewould it ha#e made if it was written down on the command of the Prophet (saww) $f wesuppose that the Prophet (saww) wanted to write down -adith al7Tha2alayn, than this issomething which the %unni !uhadditheen did themsel#es, and you would ha#e come to the

    conclusion that the o"&ect for which Prophet (saww) wanted to write his will was achie#ed Butif you think that in case the Prophet (saww) would ha#e it written down, then the %unni peoplewould ha#e agreed with the %hia #iew of -adith al7Tha2alayn, than this is &ust a wishfulthinking !ost pro"a"ly, if the Prophet (saww) had written it down, then the $mam would ha#ehid it with himself along with !ushaf 9atima, Mita" al7Hufr and the other "ooks, and it wouldalso ha#e "ecome una#aila"le for us "ecause of the $mams +nd to say that the Prophet (saw)wanted to write down in detail what he had ordered during the 9arewell -a&& is a wrong
