Recall
A measure of memory which involves reproducing information that has been stored in memory with few cues to assist retrieval.
Free Recall
Reproducing information from memory in any order, without the assistance of cues.
1. Write down as many Mr. Men characters as possible.
2. Now write down as many of the 7 dwarves as possible.
Serial Recall
Reproducing information from memory in the order in which it was presented.
1. Write down the colours of the rainbow in order.
2. Now write down the planets in order from the sun.
Serial Recall
Colours of the rainbow:• Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo,
Violet
Planets from the sun:• Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter,
Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune– Pluto?
Cued Recall
Reproducing information from memory by making use of some kind of aid or hint to assist retrieval.
1. Write a second list of Mr. Men characters with help from images.
2. Then write a second list of the 7 dwarves with help from the first letters of their name.
Recognition
A measure of memory which involves identifying the correct information from among alternatives.
1. Identify the original 7 deadly sins from the various options

Relearning
A measure of memory based on learning information again that has previously been learned and stored in LTM. The method is used to measure the amount of information ‘saved’ from previous learning. Also called method of savings.
ERA: Hypothesis
It is hypothesised that those participants who can circle items that they recognise within a given list will achieve a higher score than the participants who have to reproduce the nonsense syllables from their memory.
