    Chapter 1

    Introduction

    Recapping of needles has turned out to behazardous over these years. Some studies in the

    global setting support the fact that it leads toaccidental injuries to any healthcare nurse. Theseneedle stick injuries(NSIs) result into infection, thusputting anyone life at risk(Blackwell,et al,2007)

    Considering these facts, we researcherstherefore attempt to explore further the experiencesof teh student nurses of Davao Doctors College onrecapping the needles and propose interventionscheme to address or alleviate this concern.

    Conclusion:We concluded that the difference of our

    participants in experiences which were indicated intheir knowledge , attitudes and practices during andafter recapping procedure was ascribed to the kindof training which their clinical instructor provided foe

    them in rd. However most of them confessed thattheir CIs had not taught them of the proper steps oraction to do when an incident of needles injuryoccurred .Some would not like to report about the

    injuryBoth from the KII and FGD had some ideas on

    how to address the problem incurred from recappingprocedure

    Recommendation:

    To college of nursing administration:

    To clinical instructor :

    Provide students with adequate knowledge of theprevalence of risk to caution them to perform recappingof needles

    Must educate in mind of the students the urgency ofreporting the injury when injured

    To student nurses:

    must seek assistance from CIs whenever they aredoubtful in performing recapping
