Our expert panelists wil! first ai;Jdress the ways in which the private defense industrial firms from both Turkey and the (lnited States. as well as Turkish defense acquisition counterparts. can adapt to the restructu"ring of AT&L into Acq·uisitions and Sustainment, which manages military acquisition, and ·Research and Engineering. which will oversee all ft.I tu re research and devetopment. The panel will then shift focus to the streamlining of ovetseas, govemmentto-government arms sales.under the Trump administration's •suy American• policy and its implications for U.S.-Turkish defense cooperation.

(A2) Trade /I The Next Step for U.S.-Turl<ey Trade Despite resurgent support for protectionist trade policies, ongoing d_iplom_atic uncertainty, and the obstacles created by new tariffs, one of the world's best destinations for fateign direct in-vestment (FOi) continues to be the United States. This trend holds true with U.S.-Turkish trade, as bilateral trade and the number of Tu,kish firms investing in the United States have bot_h iocreased tremendously within the last five years, demonstrating the benefits of a robust, productive partnership. This panel will discUss viable markets for investment in the United States with the help of recent FOi patterns along with the impacts of the recent steel ~nd aluminum tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration on trade relations between the two countries.

(A3) Energy // Impact of Renewables on the Power Market The majoi:ity of global energy investment is now going to renewable e11ergy production, while almost two thirds or net power capacity around ~he world in 2017 was generated by renewable technologies. The lnternaUonal Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that-, within the oext five years. growth in renewable energy generation will be twice as large as that of gas-and coal combined. This prodigious growth has prompt_ed the American private <;;ector to push for investment in renewable en.ergy production, while Turkey has diversified its energy portfolio and

made renewable energy production capacity the centerpiece of its new national E!nergystrategy. This panel will explore the future outlook of renewable energy capacity and its impact on the electricity market as well as potential partnership and investment opPortunities between the U.S. and Turkey.

Dear Mr. Baldwin,

On behalf of the Boards of Directors of the American-Turkish Council (ATC) and the Turkey-U.S. Business Council (T AIK), as well as our American and Turkish corporate members, we are honored to invite you to attend our 37th An.nual Coi!ference on U.S.-Turkey Relations, which will be held October 22-24, 2018, at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The joint ATC-TA IK Annual Conference is the premier occasion for business and government leaders from both countries to come together and focus on all aspects of the American-Turkish bilateral relationship, as well as challenges they face around the world. This year's conference theme, "Back tQ Busi.ne$S: Maintaining Partnerships In Difficult Times" reflects this vision and seeks to provide a platform to discuss, develop, and fortify critical business and commercial ties that support the longstanding linkages. between these two countries.

We look forward to seeing you at the conference. We are confident that this year's conference will be the most engaging, relevant, and exciting it has ever been. Our efforts to strengthen the U.S.-Turkey relationship require persistent work, and your attendance would represent a meaningful·gesture in service of our mission. If you h.ave any questions, please contact Mr. Melik Goncuoglu at 202-783-0483 or [email protected].

HiAryeh.

Thanks so much, I've passed along this information to the team.

Also. I wanted to mention that the Turkey-1.J.S. 81Jsiness Council (TAIK), which hosted the New York investment conference, will be holding its annual conference in Washington, DC on October 22-24. This will be another opportunity to meet with many government and business executives.

It's jointly hosted with the American-Turkish Council. which is the U.S.-facing part of the organization.

Here's the link to the 37th Annual Conference on U.S.-Turkey Relations, in case anyone from the team is interested and a.vailable to attend. I've also attached promotional materials.

ATC has described the event as the following:

"The joint ATC"TAIK Annual Conference is t.he premier occasion for .business and government leaders from both countries to come together an.d focus on all aspects of the American-Turkish bilateral relationship, as well as challenges they face around the world. This year's conference theme. "Back to Business: Maintaining Partnerships In Diffic:ult Times" reflects this vision and seeks to provide a platform to discuss, develop, and fortify critical business and commercial ties that support the longstanding linkages betwee.n t.hese two countries."
