Areas of Learning

Choose at least one activity in each box to complete each day.

Choose at least one of the website activities (listed further below) to complete each day.

Knowledge & Understanding of the World When outside, ask your child to gather leaves, twigs and other natural materials to create a beanstalk on paper. Maybe you could take a picture of this piece of transient art to be shared in the newsletter. Why not set up a mini-planting area in your house.

PSED

Discuss the character of the giant. Why did he behave the way he did? What would you do if Jack took your belongings? Encourage your child to think about the story from a different perspective. .

Communication & Language

When you go to

the supermarket,

have a look at the

different shape,

colours and sizes

that beans come

in. Maybe you

have some dry

beans in your

house that you

can observe and

make a bean

picture.

Expressive Arts & Design If you have any boxes you could make a castle or a giant beanstalk.

Develop a dance using ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’ by Edvard Grieg. The gentle start to this music is perfect for Jack climbing the beanstalk and exploring the castle, whilst the change in tempo and volume works well for the arrival of the giant.

Physical Development Fine motor skills - Paint some broad beans in different colours to make them look like ‘magic beans’. Have some tweezers and pots available for your child to move the beans from one pot to another.
