D RoopaInspector General of Police, Karnataka

“There are individual values like being motivated, being focused, and never giving up which must be inculcated among students but what about altruistic values? These values are very much important for humanity to survive. It is also a very important point of discussion how we promote altruistic values among children. It can be done by getting our children into others’ shoes. It will make them empathetic. Technology can help us inculcating these values among children. Various media like audio-visuals, graphics, presentations etc. may help them to understand the importance of human values.

Another important point we need to focus on is increasing stress levels among children. Growing complexities are making world a place full of stress. There is so much importance given to achievements and becoming successful that children are really scared and depressed. They can’t tolerate failures in their lives. When we say that children require emotional courage, it is for them to handle the situations of being rejected or failed. Along with this, moral courage is also very much required among students.

Today, morals are in flux. Most of us don’t differentiate between right and wrong. In today’s world, it is very important for children to figure out right things and at the same time to stand by the right things and condemn the wrong. We also need to look at how digitisation can help in this.”
