Clean Up Australia Day The National Clean-Up Australia Day takes place on Sunday 1st March. Clean-Up Australia inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment. MPS students and teachers will be doing their bit to remove rubbish from our environment by having a special Clean-Up Australia Day at school on Friday 28th February. Please send gloves with your child on that day. We have big Clean-Up Australia Day bags to put any rubbish in.

Pedestrian Safety Parents, as you know we are always concerned about your child's safety and well-being. We have noticed that some parents, students and families are leaving the school via the double gates at the bottom entrance to the school on Wason St. We are asking you to please be vigilant as there are many cars entering and exiting our school gates at the end of each day. Our P&C have worked very hard over the years with council to be able to provide us with a pedestrian footpath on the north side of Wason St. We are asking you to please use this footpath instead of exiting out of the double car park gates and walking on the road. Also, if you are a permit holder who has permission to park in the disabled car park, please ensure you are parked in the grounds by 3:20pm, to avoid any safety issues.

AFL Sydney Swans Visit What a thrill it was to have four of the best Swans players to visit MPS and to run through some training drills with our boys and girls AFL sides. At the assembly the boys were able to speak to the kids about perseverance, healthy foods, exercise and about how great it is to play sport with friends. Of course, Mr Barby and Mrs Waktins created a game of Family Feud where the Swannies boys played against the teachers in everything AFL. It was a funny and enjoyable game with the Swans narrowly beating our teachers. Thanks to Mrs Rafidi, Mrs Watkins and Mr Barby for organising a great morning and to the Sydney Swans for donating some merchandise to hand out to our students in the coming week.

Milton Show The annual Milton Show takes place on Friday 6

th March

and Saturday 7th March. All parents will receive a permission note for their children to attend the Show (with a parent or family friend). On Friday 6

th March, parents may

collect their child/children from their classroom/s between 11:50am - 12:00pm. All students must be signed out by their class teachers when they are collected from the classroom. Students will receive an excursion tag and this must be pinned to their uniforms to gain entry into the show. Students will need to be in full school uniform including a hat. All students are invited to walk in the Grand Parade. This year along with school uniform, students have been asked to wear yellow, orange and red in recognition of the firefighters that supported so many people during the fires. More information regarding where students are to assemble at 12:50pm will be forthcoming. To view the Show Program and individual events, please follow the link to their website www.miltonshowsociety.com/

Donations given to our local dance kids In the holidays, Mrs Wills was contacted by Kristy from ‘Funk Boutique’ who owns a dance studio in Sydney. Kristy and a group of other dance studios from around Sydney (and their families) got together and sent boxes of dance gear for the students of Milton Public School and also to other dance studios in our area. These amazing people were very aware of the horrible summer that we all endured and wanted to lift our spirits a little with the very generous donation of black jazz shoes. THANK YOU so much Kristy and all of the families who donated shoes, bags and costumes to our area. We are very appreciative!

Support for families impacted by the bushfires The recent fires have had a terrible impact on our community. The Department of Education has provided counsellor support for the past couple weeks, and I'm being asked in what other areas the Department can assist. Initially counsellor support has been focused on students who have lost homes, but we would like to apply for additional time to support students who have been impacted in different ways as described above. If you feel your child would benefit from counsellor support, please provide the name of your child/ren and email me at [email protected] with 'Bushfire Support' in the subject heading. We will apply for additional counsellor time, and if successful, will arrange for your child to meet with a counsellor. If there are any other ways that the school can support your family, please use the address above to let me know. Mark Thomson

Lake Conjola to Ulladulla Bus

Services Kellam Bus Lines have relaunched a Bushfire recovery bus service linking Lake Conjola and Conjola Park to Milton and Ulladulla. This gives Lake Conjola a town bus service that other Villages take for granted, a chance to show that they need a service as a legacy of the devastation they are enduring. The services are only temporary until the 28th of March unless the recovery centre closes earlier. These services incorporate our school bus services that we have served the community with for the past 30 years. The services are open to anyone to use so we ask all residents and visitors of Milton and Ulladulla to help the businesses of Lake Conjola by taking a trip on the bus and see the new green shoots on the blacked trees the scenery of the Lake that will not be seen when the bush grows back and support any business you can, buy a paper, coffee and cake take a stroll or lunch at the club and take the bus home again. The service runs on Saturday so students can use their bus pass and travel for free. Hop on Hop off Daily ticket Fare Band 3 to 10 are available that gives all day travel for the one price on all connecting NSW Rural and Regional bus services just retain your ticket for re-use.
