Membership Upgrades
•Senior Member – automatic (via AIAA membership)• 8 years professional practice/membership
•Associate Fellow – nominations due by 15 April, references due by 15 May• Senior Member; 12 years professional experience; 3 references• Associate Fellows Dinner during the Aerospace Sciences Meeting
•Fellow – nominations due by 15 June, references due by 15 July• Associate Fellow; 5 references• Aerospace Spotlight Gala

Sustained Service Award
• A nomination form and score sheet must be received by 1 October• Nominees must score at least 100 points on the score sheet • Nominees are evaluated on

• Membership Committee reviews and recommends• Endorsed by the AIAA President and Vice Presidents • Certificate and pin are presented at a technical conference or at a Section

Special Service Citation
• The Special Service Citation is awarded for service to the Institute above and beyond the ordinary, which may be for a unique event or activity, or for many years of outstanding service.
• Request a Special Service Citation for members who have contributed time and effort that have substantially and uniquely benefited your Section during the Section Year
• The request must first be approved by the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) and then by the Region and Section Activities Committee (RSAC) Each Region has a limited number
of Special Service Awards that can be given out
Section / Nominator is responsible for presenting the award
Actions: Identify the member who’s service
has substantially and uniquely benefited your Section
Submit form to Regional Director

• Lawrence Sperry Young Professional Award: Presented for a notable contribution by a young person, age 35 or under, to the advancement of aeronautics or astronautics Young Professionals Committee Deadline: 1 July Presented at Aerospace Sciences Meeting
• Engineer of the Year Award: Presented to an AIAA member who has made a recent (within the past two years) individual contribution in the application of scientific and mathematical principles leading to a significant accomplishment or event worthy of AIAA's national or international recognition Nominations begin at the AIAA Section level and are submitted to your Deputy Director-Honors
and Awards and Regional Director by 1 October Nomination form, supporting materials and 3 AIAA member
