RECORD NUMBER OF ATTENDEES AT 2015 AZ RETIREE DINNER! Thanks to the one hundred retirees and guests who signed up for our 5 th annual retiree dinner and supporting the Intel Retiree Organization! Not only did we receive compliments on the food, supplied by the Ocotillo Country Club, but on our speaker, Frank Sanders, who only learned of our incredible organization last June when he was invited to speak. Frank is the Vice President of TMG and Director of Strategic Procurement who joined Intel in 1992 and has an impressive resume. There was no question that we would love to have him return. Frank gave a brief discussion of the Intel upcoming challenges including: gateway solutions to IoT (Internet of Things); new diversity programs and funding, and delivering compelling solutions. Frank said that Intel wants to change the perception of Intel to “beyond PCs.” He also provided a brief HR update regarding the sabbatical option to split a sabbatical into two four-week periods, as well as offering paternity leave. Frank then answered a number of great questions from the retirees on a variety of topics. Renee Levin , Intel Public Affairs, reminded us of volunteers needed for the upcoming Science and Engineering Fair in May. Renee also complimented all the Arizona volunteers whose time spent supporting non-profit organizations gave over $1M to those organizations and to be sure to record volunteer hours . We asked our retirees to complete a short survey on how they learned about the event and why they attended. 90% learned through our email invitation or the News Flash; 66% attended for the social connections with the remaining coming mainly to hear our speaker and the great food. This will help guide our planning efforts for next year. Our retiree dinner could not have been possible without the help of two “angels” who stepped in to help: Jean White and Terri Noll. They were instrumental in collecting the checks, arranging the door prizes, managing the survey, making the badges, reconciling the finances and so much more. Thanks, too, goes to Intel for subsidizing our event over these past five years and to Ocotillo Country Club who have provided outstanding food, a beautiful ballroom and unmatched customer service. We had ten door prizes gift cards that ranged from Target to Home Depot and Sprouts Farmer’s Market to Amazon. Winners were Annetta Moore, Jim Wick, Char Cwikla, Gay Samuelson, Theresa Tran, David See, Richard Crain, Don Palm, Melanie Higgs and Walter Riordan. Be sure to check out all the pictures on the following pages and plan to join us next year!
