HTB member Nick Hurn, provided an overview of the intervention work he has undertaken with a number of schools within the region with a particular focus on maths, English and finances.

HTB member Sir Michael Wilkins gave a presentation on curriculum analysis and costing, which can be used as part of a wider school improvement strategy, ensuring the viability of schools.
• Local delivery plan overview A DfE official provided an overview of Newcastle’s local delivery plan, which sets out what the department will do to achieve more good and outstanding school places in the region.

• Free school – Wave 12 interviews Officials updated the Board on the wave 12 applications that were considered at the final interview stage; detailing the criteria interview panels followed and the outcome of each interview.
• KS2 coasting schools A DfE official provided an update on KS2 schools that met the coasting definition following the receipt of action plans from each school. The Board was informed of the cases that have been recommended for support or intervention.
