INTRODUCTIONBoccia England (BE) has secured funding to create 5 Boccia Academies around England. We are recruiting an Academy Lead to drive the development of boccia at the Scorpions Academy at Surrey Sports Park. Academy Lead roles are initially for the period up until March 2018 when the funding for the project is reviewed.
The Academy forms a vital part of the England Talent Pathway and is designed to give selected BC1-4 athletes access to high level coaching at Surrey Sports Park.

Benefits Academy Leads will be paid £600 per year Academy Leads will have a working budget for development of the
Academy
Requirements of the role Working a minimum of 8 days per year to run the Academy training
days and attend CPD days. Liaise closely with BE around the Academy operation, including
recommendations for improvements. Be the first point of contact for athletes, coaches and officials that
are relevant to the Academy’s operations. Up hold and implement the BE codes of conduct. Help identify players for the Academy. Help to create an identity for the Academy. Make suggestions to BE for suitable uses for the Academy budget. Help recruit the volunteer workforce, including coaches. Co-ordinate the volunteer workforce within the Academy to ensure
that appropriate volunteers are present at academy sessions. Liaise with the relevant University around student engagement.

An academic qualification at A level or equivalent in a relevant subject e.g. sports science, physical education, sports coaching
KNOWLEDGECurrent knowledge of coaching methods associated to BC1-4 boccia players
Knowledge of the English Talent Pathway for boccia
Knowledge of eligibility for Paralympic pathway
Links with the local sporting organisations i.e. Clubs, County Sports Partnership, Schools
EXPERIENCEActively coaching boccia with a minimum of two years experience
Experience of coaching BC1-4 players
Experience of Head Coach role either in boccia or another sport
Budget management
Classification experience
Ability to grow relationships with key organisations
Experience of running boccia competitions
