SPECIAL INFORMATION Paint Cans: Empty paint cans may be put out with the garbage with the lids off so the contractor sees that they do not contain any paint. Cans with paint in them must be brought to the BCUA Household Hazardous Waste Collections. Call 201-807-5825 or visit BCUA.org for information on their collections. Construction Materials: Construction Materials are collected twice a year by the Borough contractor. Residents are limited to 4 barrels of construction debris on days designated with a [D] in the calendar section. Residents are advised to have their contractor dispose of the debris at the time of construction. Residents may bring construction to the recycling center for a fee or bring it to one of the solid waste transfer stations for a fee:

View the full list of construction disposal options at: http://fairlawn.org/construction Missed Garbage Collections: If you miss putting your garbage out for collection, the contractor will not return for a special collection. You may hold onto it until the next collection or bring it to one of the solid waste transfer stations in the table above. The recycling center is prohibited by DEP from accepting garbage. If the contractor missed the collection call 201-991-5400. Furniture: You may put out one piece of furniture per garbage collection day. No appointment necessary. If you have more than one piece you must dispose of it privately or wait for the next collection. This includes mattresses and box springs. Litter Clean Up Events: The Recycling Division holds four litter clean up events per year. These events are designed to not only help make Fair Lawn a cleaner place but to also bring awareness and education to the residents of Fair Lawn. Volunteers are given a letter to meet any community service hours they require, gloves, bags and lunch are provided. Volunteers must register at least three days prior to the event to assure proper transportation, supplies and food are available. Volunteers meet at the Recycling office at 20-05 Saddle River Road at 8:45 AM and the bus leaves promptly at 9:00 AM. All volunteers MUST wear closed toed shoes and long pants to participate. The 2020 dates are April 18th, May 16th, June 13th and September 12th. To register, call 201-794-5341 or e-mail [email protected]. [L] noted in calendars. Plastic Toy Donations: The Fair Lawn Recycling Center is a collection point for the non-profit organization, Second Chance Toys. (secondchancetoys.org). Clean, non-broken and working plastic only toys may be donated at the Recycling Center. Non-plastic toys will not be acceptable. Please visit the Second Chance Toys website for details on what they accept. Recycling Center—Special Notice: The Recycling Center will NOT permit any contractors, commercial vehicles or rented vehicles to dump yard waste, tires or construction materials at the center. NO EXCEPTIONS. Use of the center is for Fair Lawn residents and businesses only. Proof of residency may be checked at any time by staff. Contractors and non-residents will not be permitted to dump.
