For those that will be staying in
the Houses over the Holidays, we
will have a limited number of staff
to deal with urgent calls only.
Urgent calls are heating and hot
water issues, electricity issues and
burst pipes or flooding. If you are
locked out or lose your keys or we
are called out on a non emergency
call, there will be an up front £20
charge. If you forget the code to
your room, you can ring as normal
and after confirming your identity,
we will give you the code. Please
make sure you have contact num-
bers for your housemates in case
of a ‘key emergency’.
Meet the Team
Preparing to leave your House for the Holidays
Many of you will be travelling
home for the Holidays. To ensure
that you have a worry free time
away and a stress free return,
please make sure that you follow
these simple instructions:
1.Do not leave ANY valuables
in the house.
2.Make sure doors are locked
and windows are fastened
shut.
3. Unplug appliances (except
refrigerator)
4.Make sure all taps are turned
firmly off including the shower.
5.Do not leave ANY food out or
in your room, or dirty dishes/
pots on counters.
Reminder to Make Sure your
Valuables are insured Please check your contents insur-
ance policy to make sure that it co-
vers your personal possessions in
your locked room. If you do not
have insurance or are not covered
by your home insurance, you need
to get coverage NOW! Parents or
guardians household insurance nor-
mally covers students’ property
whilst in University Accommodation.
Please check the insurance company
knows you are away from home and
how many computer/electronic de-
vices you have. The Insurance that
the landlord has on the house covers
the building and the furniture pro-
vided only; it does not cover ten-
ants’ property. All Tenants are
responsible for making sure that
their possessions are insured
and kept in their own rooms with
the door locked.

en’s basketball team!
In Brief from the Team!
“The Women's Basketball squad currently have 45 members - the largest amount we have ever had in
the history of the club. Participation levels at training and at social events are at a record high. Over
the past few years the support we have had from people like our main sponsors Red & Nat's Happy
Homes has helped the club flourish. Thanks to the support of our sponsors we are able to make sure
the club is sustainable; we can afford to travel to away games, pay for England Basketball & BUCS
registration fees and also pay court officials. This year we are able to invest in more spare kit for
players that play BUCS but cannot afford to buy their own personalised kit or those that are only here
for a semester. Our club is financially stable so a big thank you to them for supporting us. We cur-
rently are 3rd place in our league and we are in the Northern Conference BUCS Cup. We are currently
one of the biggest AU clubs going on a sports tour in Italy in Easter next year; we have 17 people
signed up to go; last year we had 10 girls and the year before we had 7 girls.” Our Club is financially
stable so a big thank you to them for supporting us! These ladies got game!

friendly scheme!!!
Here at Red and Nat’s Happy Homes,
we are dedicated to helping the environment
in as many ways as possible!
As part of the ECO scheme, Red and Nat’s
Happy Homes are working on planting 10
trees for each of their houses in order to cre-
ate clean, fresh air for future generations to
come.
If you have received an email you will notice
this little note at the bottom telling you of the
plan for planting trees!
Before you print think about
the ENVIRONMENT
Recycling in Happy Homes Every House should have a BLUE bin for recyclable rubbish, a black bin for items that cannot be
recycled and either a small green caddy or a brown bin for food waste. If you do not have these
bins please Text Angela on 07495785176, with your name, address and which bin you are missing
and she will contact the council and arrange for delivery.
Please make sure you are using the bins properly and only put food waste in the
little green caddy or the brown bin. Garden waste, and food waste only.
The Blue bin is for recyclable items
only, which include bottles, tins, card-
board, cartons, newspapers, magazines, paper goods and
packaging. If you contaminate the Blue bin with food
or other non recyclable rubbish, the Blue bin will be
taken away by the Council.
The Black bin is for items that cannot be recycled, such as
nappies, polystyrene, cling film,
sanitary waste, plasters, crisp
packets, sweets, chocolates and
biscuit wrappers, used kitchen roll
and tissues, hard thick plastic,
wood, washing up sponges, ciga-
rette ends or ash, plastic corks, broken crockery, and small electric items.
Please put your bins out in front of the house the night before collection. If you
