SCRIPTURE READINGS L: The Old Testament reading for Last Sunday of the Church Year is from the seventh

chapter of Daniel.

9 "As I looked, "thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze. 10 A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened.

13 "In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. Daniel 7:9-10,13-14 NIV L: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. L: The New Testament reading is from the first chapter of Revelation.

4 Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father —to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

7 "Look, he is coming with the clouds," and "every eye will see him, even those who pierced him"; and all peoples on earth "will mourn because of him." So shall it be! Amen.

8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

Revelation 1:4b-8 NIV L: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. (Please stand.)

26 "At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.

HYMN “I Hear The Savior Calling” I hear the Savior calling! The gospel comes to me. My eyes once closed in blindness are opened now to see That I myself was helpless to live eternally, But, dying, Christ did save me, and now he calls for me! I hear the Savior calling! He leads a soul to me; A soul in bitter anguish, one needing to be free. The gift I have to offer is Christ, my Lord’s decree That all have been forgiven -- My Savior calls for me! I hear the Savior calling! He gives this charge to me; To serve the best I’m able, whate’er the call may be. Thus hand in hand with others who share the gospel key We spread the gospel tidings – My Savior calls for me. I hear the Savior calling! He changes hearts for me; From door to door I witness to share my Savior’s plea; Yet nothing can be added, no word on bended knee, Beyond the simple gospel – My Savior calls for me! I hear the Savior calling! His call has urgency! Each moment souls are dying; soon comes eternity. And do, my precious Savior, this is my humble plea: Prepare me for my mission for you are calling me!

YOU CAN HELP! We are blessed to have many people here for worship, Bible classes, and Sunday School on Sunday morning. But, that also means our parking lot often is overflowing. Those with healthy bodies and strong legs may wish to park further away. This would leave the closer spots for the elderly, those with difficulty walking, and families with small children. Thanks in advance for helping others.

CHOOSING BETWEEN DENIAL AND ACCEPTANCE The most difficult challenge of caregiving may be accepting the fact that changes are apt to occur to either the caregiver or the care receiver. Change occurs daily to all of us and there will be many changes, most of them unwelcome. How about a crisis situation in which one loses control of the outcome for our loved one? As caregivers, we can accept, adapt, and prepare for change, or we can stick our heads in the sand and pretend that everything is going to work out just fine. The problem with denial is that ignoring a problem or pretending it doesn’t exist will never make it go away. To be in a position to control how we will survive the physical, mental, emotional and financial stress of caregiving, the first step is to be prepared. Concerns may be: If the care receiver’s condition worsens, will you be physically capable of continuing care

for him/her? What are the alternative choices for the care receiver if it becomes impossible to care for

the individual at home? Is there enough money to pay for care in an assisted living or memory care community? Do you have the essential end-of-life documents in place? If something should happen to you, who will take care of him/her? Your doctor, social workers, pastors and parish nurses are available to assist you to locating resources in your community.

“Our Sure Foundation”

“No one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is

Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 3:11 BIBLE VERSES OF THE WEEK: "As I looked, "thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of

Days took his seat. The court was seated, and the books were opened. Daniel 7:9a, 10b

POINTS TO PONDER THIS WEEK:

How often do I stop to think that the second coming of Christ could be at any day?

If I knew he was coming today, what would be my thoughts?

Take It Home Thanksgiving is almost here! For some, Thanksgiving has happened a couple times already with different family groupings. If you were to go into a store you might think Thanksgiving took the year off! It is too bad Thanksgiving gets short changed because a life lived with gratitude, with thanksgiving is a wonderful life indeed! Think about it, every morning we have a choice to be grateful or complain. This morning I woke up to rain. In that moment I could say, “Rain…what a junky day.” I have a choice though, I could also say, “Rain, boy it is good to have that moisture, God is good!” Which phrase starts my day in joy? What type of day do you prefer, a joyful one or a frustrated one? I choose Joy and I choose Thanksgiving; thanksgiving to God, and thanksgiving to those around me. This Thanksgiving, this year, take time to share what you are grateful for. Choose a life of joy through the recognition of God’s goodness. Hymn Notes "I Hear the Savior Calling" was written by John Lawrenz in 1970 for a mission seminar that was held at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin. Each day of the conference, the first and last stanza was sung with a middle one inserted each day. The writer wrote this hymn the day his premature baby, Ruth died. He writes, "It was a time of personal sadness, but also one of joy in being comforted with the baptism that our little daughter received." The hymn is a great reminder that eternal life was won for us by Christ's death and resurrection. We as Christians have this knowledge and can share this gift with others. The hymn is a beautiful prayer asking for strength to go out and share the gospel news!

WELCOME VISITORS Whether looking for a church home or just here for the day, we are glad to have you

as our guests. Please sign the red Friendship Registration pad in your pew and pick up a visitor packet in the Narthex. Remember that you are our guests; the offering is for our members who support the work of the church through their voluntary gifts.

WORSHIP SCHEDULE Thursday 6:00 pm Saturday 5:30 pm Sunday 8 and 10:40 am HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated in each service the weekends of the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the

month. We invite those who acknowledge their sinfulness, recognize that Christ’s body and blood are truly present for our forgiveness, and are willing to give witness to the unity of their faith with this community, to join with us in receiving the sacrament. For those who for health or conscience reasons are not able to receive wine, please note that there is a cup of white grape juice in the middle of each tray. Gluten-free wafers are available in the middle of the bread tray for those with that allergy.

CHILDREN are always welcome at Redeemer. Parents should note that according to your needs and preferences, 1) children’s bulletins and “color bags” are available in the narthex; 2) our nursery is staffed each Sunday morning during the 9:20 am Education Hour and the 10:40 am service. The Nursery is located just off the Narthex -- look for our sign!

WORSHIP TAPES are available in the rack by the elevator. Listen and bring it back or contribute one dollar if you wish to keep the tape.

TRANSPORTATION is available each Sunday morning. Please call the church office (289-5147) by Noon on Thursday.

SPECIAL NEEDS Large print bulletins and personal hearing devices are available in the Narthex from an Usher or at the Welcome Center.
