what we want the technology for first, we end up with technology driven solutions that have very little impact on the lives of children and in
our educational system

with ios5 for ipad2 and the new iPad– Vision– Hearing– Physical and Motor
Vision
• Voice Over– speaks items on the screen– to select an item touch– to activate double tap– to scroll flick 3 fingers– can change the speaking rate
Vision• Zoom– magnifies entire screen– to zoom double tap with
three fingers– to move around the screen
drag with 3 fingers in zoom
mode– to change zoom double tap
with 3 fingers and drag up

mail, contacts, notes, and

Vision• White and Black– change screen to background black and text white

• -Speak Selection– when selecting text, option to speak will be

• Mono Audio– for those with hearing loss in one ear, you can
adjust so both left and right audio source material goes to one ear with ear buds.
– You can adjust the volume balance between left and right channel.
Physical and Motor• Assistive Touch– for those with have difficulty with touch screen or
using adaptive accessory– when on you will notice white circle on screen
when touched you have the following options:• Gestures• Device• Home• Favorites

• Gestures– 2, 3, 4, 5 finger engaged– can use for swiping
Assistive Touch• Device– lock screen, volume up,
volume down,
shake, lock rotation,
rotate screen
Assistive Touch• Home– returns you to home screen
