3pm – 4pm: CITIZEN JOURNALISM – by Massimiliano (+31mag)

The important stories come from the bottom-up.

Have you ever asked yourself how to brake the language barrier, how to integrate another culture

into a country that has difficulties speaking the language? +31mag tackled exactly those questions by

creating a Dutch newspaper in Italian language, breaking down the barrier and engaging the in

Amsterdam living Italian community in the happenings of the Dutch culture.

4pm – 5pm:

We live in an age of constant crisis rhetoric. But despite the warnings of impending doom, has the sky ever actually fallen on our heads, as the comic- strip heroes Asterix and Obelix have been predicting for centuries? No, it hasn’t. In Germany you constantly hear the phrase it’s “five to twelve”, meaning that “the end of the world is near”. But we’ve survived twelve o’clock countless times. What would it be like if it were after twelve already? Imagine... you could reflect on all the positive contributions that have helped us not just survive, but thrive. Perhaps this is the time for you to sit down, have a nice cup of tea, and gather some inspiration from Tea after Twelve! - See more at: tea-after-twelve.com

5pm – 6pm: How to LOBBY for change?

@the Landhuis Café (downstairs)

5pm – 6pm: Mindfulness MEDITATION (in the Landhuis Living Room – upstairs)

Tea after Twelve is presenting

a lecture/workshop on the

importance of the positive

story. Why we need to sit

down to the ‘tea after twelve’

and reflect on all the positive

contributions that have been

done.

Workshops on VISIBILITY - Location: Small Room @ Mandri l

11am – 2pm: Queer Creatures 101 (#25 participants)

Let's think about how some people have no choice about being social activist

or wanting to "change the world" because their bodies are made invisible by

the white supremacist, patriarchal, heteronormative, gender-binary, capitalist

society we live in and moreover their bodies are in constant danger of

harassment and violence. Let's talk about how we can reflect on our privileges,

how we can challenge them and deconstruct them from within. We would love

to give to you a small Queer 101 from a critical whiteness perspective, from a

viewpoint that want to break down the cistem, from a group of people that has

all different kinds of views on race, gender, sexuality, class, what not? You are

very much welcome to enter the safe(r) space of Queer Creatures and join us in

a fruitful working group environment which aims to radically take part in social

justice.

Lunch Break

2pm – 3pm: Workshop on Feminism by Yasmin Ahmed (#25 participants)

Smash the patriarchy! Women in education today still face sexism and misogyny

in both academic and social settings. We will discuss the challenges that women

face and how we as active citizens can create change in the spaces we occupy.

This interactive workshop hopes to create a sense of solidarity and sisterhood

by voicing frustrations at the patriarchal structures that exist and speaking out

about experiences in a safe space*. We will explore practical solutions that can

be implemented to improve our safety and well-being in our everyday lives as

students and citizens. All genders welcome *a safer spaces policy will be

outlined at the beginning and a facilitator will be present to ensure this is

followed.

3pm – 4pm: Queer/Feminist Poetry/Reading Workshop (#25 participants)

We believe that it is necessary to offer queer spaces in festival like these and to

engage in the interplay of structural and individual identity. We would like to

read and discuss empowering and critical poetry surrounding gender, sexuality,

race and class.

CREATIVE SESSION (for NGOs Only) – Location: Mondiaal

6pm – 6.30: Meet and Mingle – Dinner & Drinks

6:30 – 7pm: Introduction by Marco Bevolo

Marco Bevolo has been a Director at Philips Design for 10 years assuming

responsibility for the cultural trend research program. Prior to joining Philips

Design, Marco's work focused mainly on publishing and marketing

communications. His designed Philips’ City.People.Light matrix, is passionate

about cultural development and social movements – knowing how to combine

his expertise from the design, advertising and marketing into the philanthropic

realm, understanding to weave cultural trends, social developments and

economic perspectives with the world of non-profit management and social

innovation.

7pm – 8/9pm: Workshop Session on Reframing Philanthropy

We aim to ultimately bring NGOs and Social Initiatives closer together to other NGOs - sharing their ideas, ideals, challenges and inspirations - shifting NGOs from being seen as only institutions to practice altruism to incubators of change.

Following this, we will have a short creative session in a workshop format about 'Reframing Philanthropy'. We understood that often NGOs are limited in their ways to adapt to social and economic changes, lacking resources and the freedom to invest, because they depend on governmental funds and corporate partnerships in order to sustain themselves. Therefore, we belief that If they would shift away from this dynamic towards a more people based approach - not only giving the people the chance to support their causes but also supporting the people in their challenges, desires and aspirations - a new way of philanthropy could be created.

We want NGOs to grasp the power of emotional involvement and direct relationships to not see the people as simple donors but as shareholders and as a viable part of the stabil ity of their organization.
