Giving Thanks for StrengthsIn early 2014, a comprehensive evaluation of the ongoing ministry at Central was conducted. While there are plenty of opportunities for improvement, the evaluation also reminded us that the Lord has blessed Central abundantly. Three particular strengths stood out:
Preaching and Teaching: The Word of God has been faithfully and consistently proclaimed at and through Central.
A Committed Congregation: There is a strong, committed core who provide the stability necessary for Central to endure and flourish.
World Missions: We are actively supporting and leading mission work around the world in areas that are in desperate need of the Gospel.
We also give thanks for financial strength. The fiscal year July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 finished in a modest surplus condition. You gave faithfully and our staff worked hard to keep expenses in line with giving. We give thanks for these great blessings and the stability they provide!
Building On Our StrengthsThe Lord continues to impart wisdom to the Session as they discern matters of finance and stewardship. Sensing a need to be a bit more conservative in our current season, the Session reduced operating expense levels. As a result, giving is ahead of budget and expenses are below budget for the first three months of the current fiscal cycle.
“New Building, New Strength”What a blessing it is to have the new Student Center and parking garage open! These new ministry resources are already bearing fruit. Central is now a more welcoming, accessible and dynamic place. Thanks to many of you over the last ten years, we have paid nearly $5 million of the $6 million total cost already.
2 Ways to Respond1. Complete the pledge card on the
reverse side. You can return the card to Central by using the enclosed envelope, or drop it into the offering plate on Sunday.
2. You can also pledge online. Visit www.centralpres.com/respond today!
Future Strength: We Need You!The evaluation conducted last spring identified several key needs for Central going forward. The number one opportunity identified is evangelism. Simply put, we can and must do more in this area. At the same time, we need to continue to care well for our current congregation. As a result, your Session is pursuing two new staff positions for 2015:
1. Director of Evangelism and Assimilation
2. Pastor of Congregational Care
Your financial commitment makes these positions possible. Please respond!
How Is God Calling You?Giving to God’s work is an act of worship. We hope you will prayerfully consider responding to the Lord’s commitment to you and to Central by making a stewardship commitment for 2015.
