Trinity Sunday (Year C) 16th June, 2019 Reflection..... The Trinity is not a mathematical conundrum but Gods self-revelation as Love. St Paul concludes his Second Letter to the Corinthians with the lovely words frequently used as a greeting to us at the beginning of Mass: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all(13:3). This Trinitarian formula celebrates the glowing heart of our lives as creatures, as disciples and Church. When we consider the mystery of our existence, well might we ask: What is man that you should keep him in mind, mortal man that you care for him?God has answered us in human experience: The Father so loved the world he had created in Christ that he sent his only Son that we might have eternal life in the Holy Spirit. God, Father, Son and Spirit, has crowned us with glory and honour. It is only right that we respond: Glory to the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit: to God who is, who was and who is to come. Most Rev. Robert McGuckin and Mr & Mrs Mark & Cheryl Duncan cordially invite you to join with them and the Diocese of Toowoomba in celebrating the Ordination to the Presbyterate of Deacon Thomas Lawrence Duncan in St Patrick’s Cathedral, James Street, Toowoomba Thursday, 18 th July, 2019 at 5.30pm Followed by a light supper in the Cathedral Centre. Please reply by 12 th July, 2019 to St Patrick’s Cathedral, via email: [email protected] or phone the Cathedral Office: 4637 1500 Due to maintenance issues/upgrades - can all those who have keys to the Parish Centre/offices etc, please return them to either Mary Collins or Sarah in the office on Wednesday ASAP.

Trinity Sunday (Year C)

16th June, 2019

Reflection..... The Trinity is not a mathematical conundrum but God’s self-revelation as Love.

St Paul concludes his Second Letter to the Corinthians with the lovely words frequently used as a greeting to us at the beginning of Mass: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God

and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all” (13:3). This Trinitarian formula celebrates the glowing heart of our lives as creatures, as disciples and Church. When we consider the

mystery of our existence, well might we ask: “What is man that you should keep him in mind, mortal man that you care for him?” God has answered us in human experience: The Father so loved the world he had created in Christ that he sent his only Son that we might have eternal

life in the Holy Spirit. God, Father, Son and Spirit, has crowned us with glory and honour. It is only right that we respond: Glory to the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit: to God who is, who was and who is to

come.

Introduction

Relationships — even genetic ones — are a mystifying

reality, and the best efforts to explain them are often

poetic. They are often described in terms of their results,

as in today’s readings on this celebration of God as a

community. God’s love, peace, truth and hope deepen our

relationship to one another, the Earth, and all creatures.

We don’t need to understand this, only to believe and live

it.

First Reading

Proverbs 8:22-31

Wisdom precedes, accompanies and reflects God in

creation

Responsorial Psalm

O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the

Earth!

Second Reading Romans 5:1-5

Our faith, even in suffering, brings peace and hope

ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA!

Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit:

To God who is, who was, and who is to come.

ALLELUIA!

Gospel

John 16:12-15

Jesus connects his teachings to the Spirit and the Father

Prayers of the Faithful

We pray for drought-stricken communities here and

overseas. May the community unite in cherishing and

saving God’s work of creation. Lord, hear us.

We pray for all who are sick or needy in the parish.

May they draw comfort from the pastoral care they

receive. Lord, hear us.

We pray for youth workers in church and society.

May they engage creatively with those they

accompany and help them find pathways to life and

work. Lord, hear us.

We pray for Pope Francis. May his journeys to

places with small Christian communities bear fruit

in trust, mutual respect and peaceful collaboration.

Lord, hear us.

We pray for the recently deceased . . . and for those

whose anniversary of death occurs around this

time. May they share to the full in the boundless

love of the Holy Trinity. Lord, hear us.

Let us pray together...... Holy God, Word

of Life, Spirit of Love. Keep us always in

communion with you and deepen our

love for one another. We ask this

through Christ our Lord, Amen.
