Welcome A NOTE FROM OUR PASTOR
Welcome to our “hybrid” worship service, simultaneously in-person as well as over Zoom. We’re glad you are able to join our church family today as we do what we were made to do together, namely glorify and enjoy God. Weekly worship is the center of our life together as the body of Christ, as we meet with God and are spiritually nourished and built up by his Word and Sacraments. Week by week these focus our attention on the Good News of Jesus Christ. We want to do this just in the way Jesus has told us he desires, so in our worship we do what his Word, the Bible, tells us to do—nothing more and nothing less. Warmly, Pastor Fix

* Confession of Faith .......................... Luther’s Small Catechism, Part II, Art. 2
I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord; Who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, secured and delivered me even from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood, and with His innocent sufferings and death; in order that I might be His own, live under Him in His Kingdom, and serve Him in everlast-ing righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, even as He is risen from the dead, and lives and reigns forever. This is most certainly true.
Lord’s Supper ...................................................................... Pastor Coleman
Due to the current pandemic we are using both prepackaged elements with a wafer and grape juice as well as carefully prepared gluten-free bread and wine (center trays) or grape juice (outside trays). Please come forward by row beginning with the front rows using the center aisle to pick up the elements and return to your seats by the side aisles. Please hold the elements until all have received them, so that we can partake together.

JANELLE GROVE, RUF-I INTERN AT GEORGE MA-
SON UNIVERSITY Dear friends, Please pray for a beloved student of mine, “X,” who I have recently been able to reconnect with (after many attempts at texting over the course of the pan-demic). She is still here in the states, but seems to be struggling with depression - lack of energy and interest and appetite. I’m thankful she’s willing to tell me about it. Please join me in praying: 1. That she’ll continue to stay in touch and have
the energy to get help 2. For her full recovery 3. That she’d be open to the Gospel through this
difficult time. Included here are some photos of the girls I've asked you to pray specifically for in previous news-letters. We've been enjoying the fall weather! In the past few weeks we've been to Harpers Ferry, Scott's Run, Great Falls, Sky Meadow, and other local parks. Sitting in the sun with a good view is a great setting for deep conversation. Thank you, friends, for your prayers and support! The Lord is at work, so we pray earnestly, work diligently, and wait patiently. "Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples." Psalm 96:3 In Christ, Janelle

Preparation for Next Lord’s Day SERMON SERIES: EZRA-NEHEMIAH: GUARDED BY GRACE SERMON TITLE: “Good Goals vs. Evil Envy”
SERMON TEXT: Nehemiah 2:1–10 PREACHER: Pastor Fix MONDAY Nehemiah 2:9–20 What are the problems facing God’s people here (the evil) and what
provisions has God made (good)? How might these relate to the church today?
TUESDAY Genesis 13 Like Nehemiah surveying Jerusalem, God instructed Abraham to
wander about the land to see what he was promising to give him. How might this apply to us in our New Covenant context?
WEDNESDAY Ezra 8:22; Nehemiah 2:9; Psalm 20:6–8; Isaiah 31:1–3; Acts 25 Notice the difference in how Ezra and Nehemiah use political
power. What’s the difference and how might we apply this? THURSDAY Acts 17:16–34 How do Paul and Nehemiah model importance of learning and
inspection in the work of God’s kingdom? Application? FRIDAY Revelation 2:1–7 How can we maintain our first love and not let Christ’s church fall
into spiritual “ruin”? SATURDAY Ephesians 6:10–20; 2 Corinthians 10:3–6
How can we as Christ’s people be so confident of our prayers being heard and answered? How can we live in light of this?
