ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE REACH YOUR FULL POTENTIAL

Regent College, which is part of the London based education group, Regent Group, is comprised of both an independent secondary school providing full time education for pupils from Year 10 to Year 11, and a sixth form college which provides education for students taking GCSE Intensive, AS, A2 and A-Level Intensive, courses. The College prides itself on providing opportunities for pupils and students of all ages and abilities to enable them to enhance their academic performance and achieve all that of which they are capable. The College dedicates itself to the pursuit of academic excellence in a warm and caring environment.

Students benefit from small class sizes, a close student monitoring system and the ability to choose from a range of unique programmes all of which enable students to attain the excellent results outlined in this report. We also pride ourselves on recruiting a high calibre teaching team which includes teachers who are vastly experienced and have a real ability to impart both their subject knowledge of and passion for their chosen subject and we constantly seek such staff to ensure that our teaching is the best on offer. The College promotes diversity and tolerance, the importance of citizenship, leadership and creative thinking. This ensures our students develop into mature young men and women ready to progress onto university and the world of work. Gaining a place on a good course at a reputable university is becoming more difficult, and yet increasingly important for employment; we are experts in preparing students for university entry and guide students through every step of the UCAS process. I look forward to seeing you here!

Mr. Steve Hurl Head Teacher

CASE STUDIES

Shivarth - A*AB Reading Information Management for Business at UCL Regent Sixth Form College student “I would like to thank everyone at Regent College for helping me to achieve my grades and getting my firm offer.” Shivarth joined Regent College from Merchant Taylors’ School. Whilst enjoying his time there, it was felt that he needed a fresh environment to give him the best chance of success to facilitate his progression to university. The environment at the College suited him perfectly and with hard work, achieved the excellent set of results above.

Shivanath - A*AB Reading Physics with Particle Physics at Queen Mary’s Regent Sixth Form College student “The teaching at Regent College was great and helped me get back on track.” Shivanath joined Regent College having attended QE Boys previously where he had achieved some good results. However, he knew he needed an environment where he could be sure he would be pushed and supported to achieve the high grades he needed for the university course of his choice.

Krishna - AAB Reading Computer Science at Birmingham Regent Sixth Form College student “Thank you to everyone at Regent College to help me achieve my grades, teaching was brilliant.” Krishna joined Regent College after having taken his AS Levels at Park High but having not received the results he wanted. Supported by Regent’s close monitoring of students, and encouraged by the small classes sizes, he was very pleased to find out he had achieved AAB allowing his to pursue the course he wanted.

Brian - A*AB and A at AS Reading Petroleum Engineering at Leeds Regent Sixth Form College student “I am extremely grateful for everything Regent has done for me. Many thanks to all the teaching staff and management team.”

Brian joined us from Parmiters School where he had achieved satisfactory results in his AS year. However, having high ambitions for his career, he decided he needed excellent results and thus sought an environment where he thought that he would achieve maximum support and encouragement to achieve this. With much hard work and after hours of study in the classroom, he was thrilled to receive results of A*AB at A-Level ensuring he was free to pursue Petroleum Engineering at Leeds.

Shivarth - A*AB

Humza Khan-AAA Reading Finance at Aston University Regent Sixth Form College student Humza came to us from John Lyon School with grades of ABC. He really needed top level grades in order to get onto his desired course at his chosen university. Attracted by our small class sizes which he believed would make the difference, he transferred to Regent College and enrolled on a course of a one term duration. Astonishingly, after just one term of teaching, he managed to gain grades of AAA and now has the place at Aston studying Finance that he so coveted. “I found it really helpful at the College, your get more personalised attention. The teachers helped me a lot with my UCAS application as well as my subjects, they’re just more involved. They enabled me to get to my first choice university which I’m ecstatic about.” Heena Popat – AAB Reading Pharmacy at Nottingham University Regent Sixth Form College student Heena joined us from a local school where she had obtained rather average grades. Knowing that she had the ability to do far better, her family made the decision to bring her here where they felt she would be nurtured. After spending a year at Regent College, and having benefitted from the guidance of our highly experienced teaching team and pastoral support system, Heena was thrilled to discover, that after a year of hard work and dedication, she had got grades of AAB which allowed her entry into one of the most popular universities in the country, Nottingham University and one of the most sought after courses, Pharmacy. “I’ve found the teachers very supportive and it’s a comfortable environment due to the students and the teachers. I’ve got the grades I wanted and I’ve got the university of my preference. I’m so glad I came here...”

Vlad Scinteie – AABB & AA(AS) Reading Medical Physics at UCL Regent Sixth Form College student Vlad came from Romania four years ago and enrolled straight into Regent College where he has been since. Although he was still improving his English, he took on 5 AS Levels, which is one more than standard. He continued to push himself to his limits in his second year whilst taking on the responsibility of being Deputy Head Boy and being involved in several extra-curricular clubs. He was therefore thrilled to receive grades of AABB ensuring he got the place at university that he had wanted for such a long time. “While I’ve been at Regent College, one of the things I noticed in my early years of student life was the relationships between myself and other teachers, like Raj, Alan and

Luke Anderson – GCSE grades including 1A*, 6A, 3B Luke has been at Regent College since 2007 and has come right through our Senior School. Luke proved himself to be a hardworking student with a strong ambition to do well. His capabilities meant he was able to take two exams a year early – Maths and English Language – and we were thrilled when he gained A grades for both. This year he had done just as well with a spread of A*, A and B grades giving him a total of 11 GCSEs overall, a strong foundation for his AS studies. “I’m very pleased and had a great time at Regent College. My studies were good. Overall it was a great experience.” Temitayo Fambegbe – GCSE Intensive course 4A & 1B Temitayo came to Regent College just one year ago from Canons High with mostly Cs and Ds. Disappointed with his results, he thought the small classes, frequent testing and friendly environment would help him improve his grades the second time around. He was therefore very pleased to find that he every subject that he retook moved up by 2 or 3 grades. “It’s been a wonderful experience. I couldn’t have done it without the help of the teachers. I was pushed harder here and that’s why I got good grades.” Amrit Maloni – 11 GCSEs including 3 A*, 3A “I’m very happy with my results; I could never have expected to get very good grades in English. I’ve improved in my studies greatly.”

Ibrahim Rabie – GCSE Intensive AABBC Ibrahim Rabie came to Regent College to retake his GCSEs. He had been studing at Onslow St Audreys previously but received grades of mostly Fs and Gs with which he was very disappointed. He therefore looked for somewhere that could offer a completely different type of school environment. Clearly this worked for him as his grades shot up this summer. “I’m pleased with the grades I’ve ended up. Regent College was a nice college to attend every day.” Dilini Paul – AAB Dilini Paul came from Heathfield School in order to retake some of the core GCSE subjects. She had obtained grades of DD for Science and Additional Science whilst there and a B in Maths which she was very keen to improve in order to provide a strong foundation for her AS Levels. After a year of hard work her DD increased to AB and her B in Maths to an A. “I’m happy with my results. Regent College has taught me a lot including how to revise.”

Amee Mehta Regent Sixth Form College student Amee Mehta came to Regent College from Kingsbury High School where she had obtained grades of CCDE. Attracted by our small class sizes and close student monitoring system, she enrolled onto our A-level Intensive course to improve her grades. She now leaves us with grades of ABB to go to Aston University and study Business and Mathematics. “I found the staff at Regent very friendly and approachable. I never felt worried about asking them for help with problems. I also thought that they were really good at pushing us to make sure we achieved what we were capable of. I’m so pleased I’ve got into my course and I’m really glad I made the decision to come here”. Rupesh Hirani Regent Sixth Form College student Rupesh Hirani came to us from Harrow High School. He has received an astounding array of results of A*AA. His Maths was scored at 96% overall and he received 100% in many of his modules across all his subjects. This would be a spectacular result for any student, but it is so much the more so considering that Rupesh is actually one year younger than his contemporaries! Unsurprisingly, he has been accepted on to the sought-after Accounting and Finance course at Birmingham University.

“I found the teachers really supportive throughout my time at Regent College. I think the small class sizes really made a difference and it was probably something that played a large part in my academic success. I also thought the Progress Tests they hold were important as they really kept you on your toes and made sure you were keeping up with your studies.”

Amber Fallahi Regent Sixth Form College student Amber Fallahi came to us from St Dominics in Harrow with grades of BCD. After months of hard work and with an impressive dedication to her studies, she leaves Regent College to study History with grades of AAB. “I really enjoyed my time at Regent College. I found everyone there very supportive both educationally and in a general sense. Though I had excellent teachers for all my subjects, I have to say I thought the Maths department was outstanding and I have no doubt that it is thanks to them that I got my A grade. I had a good experience there and I’m so glad I got my university place. I thought their help with the UCAS was fantastic and really informative.” Nnamdi Ume-Ezeoke Regent Sixth Form College student

Nnamdi Ume-Ezeoke is a student who came to Regent College from Nigeria in January 2009. Despite the fact that English was his second language and the fact that he joined very late into the year, he obtained results of A*BB. He now heads to Loughborough University to study his desired course of Electronics and Electrical Engineering.

“I found the environment at Regent College really friendly. It felt more like a big family than a school. I thought the teachers were excellent as they always went out of their way to help me and all of them had really good teaching experience and qualifications. Plus the science laboratories were really modern and had all the latest equipment which kept me happy as an aspiring engineer.”

The high teaching quality helped me to achieve my results and thanks to Regent College I now have the opportunity to study at one of the best universities in the country. The facilities at Regent are great and there is always guidance given. With loads of help from the teachers I managed to get the grades I wanted”. RACHNA Regent Sixth Form College student “Thanks to Regent College I will be going to Manchester University in September, having achieved ABB at A Level. I have really enjoyed my time at Regent and I am going to miss it. The teaching groups are small and that helped me to achieve the grades. There is so much support given with university applications and I am glad I chose to study at Regent College”. NEHA Regent Independent School student “Regent College has been great. I achieved ABC at A Level and have received a place at Manchester University to read Economics. The teachers are really motivating and helped me to realise my full potential. The small classes and individual attention ensured my success. The teaching is excellent and I would recommend the College to anyone”. ZARNA Regent Sixth Form College student “Regent College is a great place to study. I achieved ABB at A Level. The classes are small and the facilities are excellent. Looking back I can really appreciate all the help and support I received at Regent College and I am looking forward to studying Physiotherapy at St Georges, London”. I am looking forward to A2 in September and am aiming to achieve straight A’s next year”.

JITESH Regent Sixth Form College student “I would like to thank the teaching team at Regent College for their care and dedication during my A Levels. The support I got from my teachers ensured that I realised my potential and true ability. I secured excellent grades in my examinations and I am now studying Biomedical Sciences at King’s College London” JI Regent Sixth Form College student “Having taken a break from education I was nervous about attempting the A Level Intensive course, but thanks to the small classes, the high quality of teaching and some hard work I scored three A’s in my AS exams in January and can face the summer examinations knowing that I’ve received the best preparation possible.” MEELI Regent Learning “I was struggling in English before I joined Regent Learning. The extra confidence the classes gave me was amazing and the teacher and the rest of the group were all really friendly. It’s much easier to study in a smaller group and my English really improved, I’ll definitely be recommending it to all my friends.” SARENE Regent Sixth Form College student “Regent College is a great place to study - the caring teaching team assisted me to achieve 3 ‘A’s and a ‘B’ in my A Levels and gave me invaluable advice on applying to Medical school and preparing for interviews. I have now completed my A Levels and secured the grades I needed to read Pharmacy at Nottingham.”
