Region II of the National Society of Black Engineers is excited to invite you to partner with us as we strive to fulfi ll the NSBE Mission. This year, our regional directives will serve our membership by providing them with clarity on how members can empower themselves, cultivate enhancing & sustaining academic excellence, and fostering a culture in Region II that is supportive to our members. In order to achieve our goals, this will require communication, execution, and the support of our corporate partners.

Region II boasts 1,788 collegiate members, 1,010 NSBE Jr. (pre-college) members, and about 51 lifetime members. In addition, our NSBE professional membership has grown to include 460 members. Our collegiate members represent nearly 46 active chapters throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Our NSBE Jr. members represent a total of 34 active chapters and our Professionals membership represent 16 active chapters.

According to U.S. News and World Report’s 2017 Top engineering programs, 10 of the top 50 ranked universities in the nation are located within Region II. In addition, our region encompasses a wealth of universities with the best undergraduate engineering programs, along with being the home of 12 historically black colleges and universities. According to Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, we have fi ve in the top 10 institutions, that graduates the most African-Americans with a B.S. in engineering and six out of top 10 that graduate the most African-Americans with a M.S in engineering; each year.

Region II is home to some of the top talent that NSBE has to off er. During the 2015–2016 academic year, members of Region II reported a verifi ed average GPA of 3.30 with over 560 transcripts submitted. From a leadership perspective, fi ve leaders who are currently serving on the National Executive board have previously served on the Region II Executive Board. Our region has developed a reputation for tremendous leadership, membership participation, and academic prowess. These qualities make Region II unique and unparalleled with the opportunities it presents to recruiters.

The Fall Regional Conference (FRC) is Region II’s largest event of the year. The conference allows the Regional Executive Board to develop our membership in accordance with our regional directives. HACKATHON: $4,500

The Hack-A-Thon is geared towards innovative collegiate students with a passion for solving problems through coding. This competition will allot creative students 12-16 hours to design an application that will solve a given problem. This program will allow students to interact with companies during brief presentations where teams will discuss and showcase their solution. Each student will be judged based off a set of criteria, such as creativity and practicality. Prizes will be given to top three teams.

REGION II FALL AND SPRING ZONE SUMMITS

The End Zone, O Zone, Terror Zone, Comfort Zone, and Danger Zone make up the fi ve diff erent geographical areas of Region II. Each zone consists of a number of NSBE chapters on the collegiate, pre-college, and alumni levels that are located in the same area. The following indicates the areas that comprise each zone.

The Fall Zone Summits are held in late September or October and the Spring Zone Summits are in late February or early March. The goal of these summits is to unite the chapters with the rest of their respective zones while encouraging the membership to come together and network. This year’s zone summits plan to include events such as creating toy designs and prototypes and having STEM Fairs to cater to middle and high school students. This is a great opportunity for companies to increase their visibility, while networking with the various talents present at the summit in a more intimate setting.

PARTNERSHIP POLICY

To achieve maximum exposure and to receive full sponsorship benefi ts, we recommend that organizations reserve sponsorships as early as possible, but at least eight weeks before the event. This allows suffi cient time to place necessary orders, create signage and to include sponsorship information in the offi cial agenda and/or the mobile app. Please note that NSBE will make every attempt to provide full recognition on sponsorships confi rmed less than six weeks before the event, however, some benefi ts may no longer be available.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Organizations canceling Fall Regional Conference sponsorship items and/or FRC career fair booth space on or before September 16, 2016, will receive a refund less a twenty percent (20%) cancellation fee. Cancellations received between September 17 and October 14, 2016 will receive a refund less a fi fty percent (50%) cancellation fee. Refunds will NOT be issued for “no shows” or for cancellations received after October 14, 2016, and the exhibiting or sponsoring company will be responsible for the entire fee for the sponsorship and/or the exhibit space reserved.
