Activities at a Glance• Integration Working Group

– Galvanizing Forum 2006 (cross-committee membership)

– Aim: strategize how the Centre will lead and facilitate integration of a CYMH system in ON

– Commissioned a paper on Integration of CYMH in Canada

– Questions: • What does ‘integration’ mean? • What is our role in system integration? • What are we currently doing to facilitate integration? What

should we do doing to facilitate integration in the future?

• Youth Engagement– The New Mentality – pilot initiative working to create a

youth-driven network promoting mental health and advocating for a system that engages youth in ON.

– Consumer & Advocates Network – network of consumers, including youth, who inform our programs and services.

– Youth Art Mural Project – partnership between the Ottawa School of Art and the Centre; the use of art to express mental health.

– Dare to Dream Program – youth-led awards program. – www.yoomagazine.net - health literacy program.

Activities at a glance• Med Ed & Med Ed Passport

– Partnership between the Centre and Dr’s Stan Kutcher, Andrea Murphy and David Gardner, Dalhousie University.

– Psychotropic medication education booklet created in response to a provincial crisis.

– Innovative tracker for questions, symptoms, activities, side effects, medications and appointments.

– Train-the-trainer pilot training in May 2008; provincial pilot in summer 2008.

• Communities of Practice– Multiple consultations with agencies

implementing Triple P (Positive Parenting Program, Australia).

– Facilitation of additional communities of practice around evidence-based practice and evaluation.

• CYMH Outcome Indicators Project– Joint project between the Centre and MCYS.

New Funding Opportunities• Community Mobilization

Awards – Pilot– Inspired by SPRG.– In response to local

barriers and limitations with Expertise Mobilization Awards.

– Fosters capacity building, collaboration and improved mental health in communities across ON.

• Aims to:– provide a mobilization

funding stream for communities that have been unable to access Centre grants.

– support motivated communities in their efforts to mobilize around a pressing issue.

– support sustainable initiatives through collaborative action.

– Communities must include at least two partner agencies committed to working together.

– Community Mobilization Awards have 2 Phases:

• Phase 1 - develop a Community Action Plan ($15,000)

• Phase 2 - fully implement the plan; measure its impact ($15,000).

– Possibility of 1-year renewal pending review of outcomes and potential for sustainability.

– Official award to be launched - July 2008.

New Funding Opportunities• Two new grants replace the

former Program Evaluation Grants:1. Evaluation Capacity

Building Grants2. Evaluation

Implementation Grants• Goals:

– standardization of evaluation.

– more communities of practice established in ON.

• Both grants will require:– A readiness review– If successful, regular

consultation with the Centre.

– Partnerships and networks with agencies implementing similar programs and services.

Deadline is June 2, 2008.

Evaluation of the Centre• Internal Evaluation

(the Centre)– Lead: Dr. Evangeline

Danseco.– Ongoing internal

review of Centre processes and outcomes.

– Innovative evaluation data-collection system.

• External Evaluation (MCYS)– Fourth year of full

operations.– To determine value of

Centre outcomes and relevance to the field.
