Preparing for Threats and Meeting Mandates

Duties of New Coordinator

• Management and coordination of emergency and spill planning and responses for FWS within the Northeast Region

• Implementation of the Incident Command System• Point of contact for all Regional emergency planning, activities, and events• Pre-spill planning and notification (including 24-hour spill phone) • Development and implementation of emergency plans• Emergency coordination with Federal, state, local, and Tribal entities• Oversight of Regional equipment/personnel response readiness and deployment• Regional Physical Security Coordinator• Continuity of Operations Drills and Training

• Serve as the point of contact for all FWS emergency and pre-spill planning efforts and responses in the Northeast Region.

• 10 Coast Guard Sectors• 3 EPA Inland Areas

REC/SRC Spill Response Duties

• Coordinate with REO and other DOI bureaus• Coordinate FWS Participation in Area Contingency Planning• Coordinate FWS Participation in the Spill Response• Evaluate all Pollution Reports and Spill Response Reports • Provide Reports to FSRC’s as necessary• Monitor 24-hour Spill Phone• Maintain Regional Spill Plan and SOPs

Field Spill Response Coordinator Duties

• Assist with Development of Pre-Spill Planning Documents

• Remain Current in All Required Training• Participate in Spill Drill Exercises • Coordinate with the REC/SRC• ID Resources at Risk and Ensure Trust Resources

are Addressed • Provide Wildlife Response Information to the FOSC • Participate in the ICS• Designate Qualified FWS Personnel to Participate in

Response
