The Temple Church Choristers’ Bursary Endowment Fund

We owe an immense debt of gratitude to the 450 benefactors who helped us to cover the entire cost of the organ’s refurbishment from donations; and we are glad that so many were able to join us when Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh came here in May for its rededication.

We are now starting our next and even larger project. Encouraged by the success of the Organ Appeal, we are confident that over time we can raise a very significant capital sum towards the permanent endowment of our Choristers’ Bursaries.

We have already received some very generous legacies and gifts specifically for this cause. Over the coming months we will be able to publish further details of our plans. For the moment, we would like the Church’s own congregation to be the first to know of this task that we are gladly undertaking, to ensure that the organ and choir together continue to make their wonderful music here for decades – and for centuries! – to come.

There were already organs and choristers in the Temple Church in 1307. It is a privilege and delight for us all to hear their successors. We look forward to handing on this extraordinary tradition, safe and sound, to generations yet unborn.

If you would like to hear more of our plans and of the ways in which you yourself can help, you are most welcome to get in touch directly with me.

With very many thanks meanwhile to all those who supported the Organ Appeal. As we hear every week, the result has vindicated every hour of the work – and every pound of the cost – dedicated over the last three years to this magnificent instrument.
