1. Feedback and external reviewing in Powerpoint• Shubham Jain is an entrepreneur who has multiple

startups

• He is the UX head of Perdix, a firm offering design solutions

• He constantly makes presentations for clients to pitch his products

• He collaborates with his colleagues, Dushyant, Manish and Srijan and takes their feedback at every step.

How he currently does it

Proposed Model• In the earlier model, there is extensive confusion created my long mailing threads. A

mailing thread usually lasts for approximately 30-40 messages in Shubham’s case

• Collaborators wrote their feedback in mail, and it was difficult for them to clearly explain what they meant. Also, since the collaborators were almost always on the move, they wrote such long mails on mobile devices / tablet devices, which was painstaking.

Shubham makes a presentation and wants to take the review of the other stakeholders of the organisation

Page 6: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

He accesses the review panel and clicks on “Invite reviewers”. He adds the mail addresses of Dushyant and Srijan, who are already listed as his contacts on his Microsoft profile.

Page 7: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

The invites are sent to the respective collaborators.

Page 8: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

Dushyant accepts the review request and the presentation opens up in a read-only pdf mode

Page 9: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

He notices a flaw in the heading style and draws a circle around the area to highlight it.

Page 10: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

He wants to convey a message to Shubham at this point and he double taps on the highlighted area to include a comment

Page 11: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

He selects “Audio Comment” and the device starts recording his voice. Dushyant speaks about the changes he wants to make.

The audio comment is embedded on the highlighted area.

Page 13: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

Dushyant highlights another area that he thinks needs a change.

Page 14: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

He selects the “Text comment”

Page 15: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

He types and submits the comment. Here, the comments can be input from keyboard / stylus based input

Page 16: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

The comment is similarly embedded to the area

Page 17: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

Dushyant highlights some arguments that he thinks are not valid.

Page 18: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

He uploads a file for reference at the location.

Page 19: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

He wants to provide shubham with more context on how to approach the issue.

Page 20: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

Further, he adds a comment for specific instructions on how to approach the issue

Page 21: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

He checks all his comments and sends the review to shubham

Page 22: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

Shubham is notified upon receiving the review. He clicks to see it.

Page 23: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

An overlay like layer is formed on the slide and all of Dushyant’s comments are included as links on highlighted areas.

He accesses them one by one and makes respective changes.

The review layer can be minimized to edit the presentation.

2. Template Broadcasting and its use in tablet Devices

Current Scenario:• Only basic functionalities available i.e, text and images.

• Exporting and importing content is an issue

• Creating and formatting content is a pain in touchscreen devices, where there aren’t enough number of interactions defined to take care of complex actions like diagramming, designing etc of a presentation.

• Stock templates are “Boring!”

Page 25: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

Scenario• Ankit is a student in IIT Guwahati and has to quickly

put together a presentation for his group of professors.

• He is on the move and only has his tablet device with him

• He is content focused and is from a technical background, lacking any design knowledge.

• His professors have repeatedly told him to make better presentations.

• He generally relies on his friend Varun to improve his presentations visually.

Varun makes a presentation and is just about to finish

Page 27: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

A prompt can ask him to broadcast the template if he wishes to do so.

Page 28: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

Upon broadcasting the template, all text and Images can be replaced by dummy content and can be broadcasted for colleagues / friends / public domain to use

Page 29: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

When Ankit is about to make his presentation,

A separate on the “choose template” screen will show the top rated templates and the templates uploaded or used by his contacts.

A rating system will further help making the choice easier.

Also, templates uploaded by contacts have the benefit of trust.

Page 30: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

He likes a template by Varun and applies it to the presentation.

Page 31: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

All the attributes of the template, i.e, graphic styles, Fonts, font sizes, colour schemes, etc are automatically formatted and Ankit will only have to edit the finer details of the content.

Page 32: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

Ankit rates the template based on his opinion of the same.

Page 33: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

An elements tab is accessible, which contains all the elements like heading styles, font styles, illustrations, flowcharts etc, which operates in drag and drop.

Page 34: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

Ankit quickly chooses his preferred styles with a single tap and the styles are applied

Page 35: Reimagining presentations for touch devices

The same is applicable to other elements like flowcharts etc, which empower Ankit to create such complex content instantly.

The efforts involved in formatting are reduced to a bare minimum.
