__________________________________________________ Discussion 1. Where are your affections or what is your idol? How can you still love this idol but love God more/first? 2. How would others describe your attitude? What do you think Christ’s attitude was and how did he show it? 3. Are you willing to let God transform your heart so that your affections and attitude will be more Christlike? How can you make this happen? 4. Imagine your life lived like Christ. Describe how that would look and feel in your context (family, school, work, friends). Is it worth it to you to live like Christ? _______________________________________________________ Discussion 1. Exodus 20:3 - You shall have no other Gods before me. Luke 9:23 - And he said to all,”If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” Mark 8:35 - For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. 2. Ephesians 1:15— For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, 2 Thessalonians 1:3-4 - We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing. Therefore we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions that you are enduring. 3. Ezekiel 11:19 - And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in my statues and keep my rules and obey them. And they shall be my people and I will be their God. Matthew 6:33 - But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness… James 4:7-8 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 4. Galatians 5:22 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self- control; against such things there is no law. _______________________________________________________ Final Thoughts As the church we have an identity given to us from God. It rests in the new life he has provided, but many of us have not accessed it. So it is merely potential untapped. IF we were to truly grab hold of the hope and powerful grace and mercy and love that sits in our hearts, then a new culture, a new church, one identified with Christ…AS Christ would rise. Then we would see revival like we cannot imagine. It would be so much better!
