CALL-INT-5-2015: RETHINKING THE EUROPEAN UNION CRISIS RESPONSE MECHANISM IN LIGHT OF RECENT CONFLICTS

• Scope:

• Research should analyse the crisis response mechanisms in the EU, and focus on the EU’s joint military and civilian capabilities

• Identify future needs

• Role and influence of NATO and the UN Security Council need to be analysed as well as BRICS intervention capabilities

• Expected impact: research is expected to advance theoretical and practical knowledge on EU’s response mechanisms

• Project size: EUR 1.5 and 2.5 million

• Type of action: Research and innovation actions

• Deadline: 28/05/2015 at 17.00.00 Brussels time

CALL-INT-7-2015: TOWARDS A NEW GEOPOLITICAL ORDER IN THE SOUTH AND THE EAST MEDITERRANEAN REGION• Project size: EUR 1.5 and 2.5 million

• Type of action: Research and innovation actions

• Deadline: 28/05/2015 at 17.00.00 Brussels time

• Italian Presidency of the Council (1/7/2014 – 31/12/2014): Mediterranean area should be a key priority for the EU

• ‚Applied research on long-term socio‐economic challenges in the Euro‐Mediterranean should remain important in Horizon 2020 mainly on the topics of: energy and climate change mitigation; climate change adaptation with a focus on water efficiency and agriculture, waste management and food security’ - External advice and societal engagement: Towards the 2016 and 2017 work programme of "Inclusive, Innovative and Reflective Societies" of Horizon 2020

• (The 2016 and 2017 work programme of Societal Challenge 6 will have a budget of more than €300 million.)

CALL-INT-8-2015: THE EUROPEAN UNION AND THE EASTERN PARTNERSHIP• Specific challenge: reinforced relationships with EaP countries (Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine,

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia); design policies towards this region

• Scope:

• research should include stock-taking of existing relations between EU and each of these countries, as well as between the EaP countries

• Specific attention should be paid to Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine

• examine how scientific cooperation and the mobility of the researchers increase understanding between EU actors and the countries of this region

• Addressing societal challenges

• Role of Russia and Turkey should be taken into account

• Contrasting EU approaches toward the region with those of third countries (USA and China) could equally be of interest

• participating partners from the EaP countries is strongly encouraged

• Expected impact: revealing the major challenges to the EU’s neighborhood strategy and policies

• Project size: EUR 1.5 and 2.5 million

• Type of action: Research and innovation actions

• Deadline: 28/05/2015 at 17.00.00 Brussels time

CALL-INT-10-2015: THE EUROPEAN UNION AND INTEGRATION CHALLENGES IN THE BALKAN• Specific challenge: neighbouring countries with Stabilization and Association

Agreements (SAA)

• Scope:

• research should include stock-taking of existing relations between EU and each of these countries, as well as between the countries on the Balkans

• key issues: socio-economic development, identity politics, ethnic conflicts, gender equality, migration

• examine how scientific cooperation and the mobility of the researchers inrease understanding

• role of the macro-regional strategies (Danube RS), and other powers should be analysed

• participating partners from the Balkans is strongly encouraged

• Expected impact:

• Compresensive understanding of the challenges (political and socio-economical) in the Balkans

• Project size: EUR 1.5 and 2.5 million

• Type of action: Research and innovation actions

• Deadline: 28/05/2015 at 17.00.00 Brussels time
