Please note that this RM release 08.10.18.01 is compatible with Bentley Re- bar v08.11.09.74 and Power Rebar 08.11.09.74 or higher.If that release is not available on SELECT please contact JeanPierre Chanard 

or   Nabil Sleiman. -  Added option to allow creation of XML along with DGRM file in exportdialogue.

-  Added export of material name and type for beam elements.-  Added export of cable elements (geometry) and their material name and type

  RM General-  Licensing: Improved SELECT licensing configuration. Activated the new v9

SELECT Licensing client 9.0.0.38-  DGN Navigator 2.1.0.252 will be used. It's more stable as the previous one.

-  Training examples available within RM session-  Added user guide GUI commands in TCL Guide

-  Added TCL commands for Multibyte UTF8 conversion. Also the documen-tation was updated accordingly.

-  Added TCL demo examples in area of Demo examples-  Export of PDF (3D) is now available again in the context menu of the RM

graphic window. You need the free Bentley Viewer or Microstation to use it.First a DGN file will be created and opened in the Viewer. There it can be

 printed as PDF file.-  Excel TCL export: Creates binary xls files accepted without notification also

 by newer Excel versions.-  RM is now faster while starting with network paths, which don't exist any-

more and are registered in the project history. Working directories longer

than 169 characters will use the short 8.3 name convention.

Fixes:

  RM/Analysis-  Aero class calculation corrected (Calculation of derivatives of steady state

coefficients corrected. Wind direction -Z were wrong (no symmetry to +Z). Numerical differentiation difficult at kinks. Now, approximation at kinks byaveraging. NOTE: THIS MODIFICATION INFLUENCES OLD PRO-JECTS. THE NEW RESULTS SHOULD BE BETTER (SMOOTHER DE-RIVATIVES).)

-  Creep/Shrinkage: AASHTO LRFD adapted maturity factor-  TCL import of CSCORB/CSCORE: Sum load case were not imported-  TCL import of Chinese file names now possible-  TCL import/export: New TCL option "NO_CREEPSHRINK" by exporting

schedules. This option is not known in older versions. That’s why a warningwill appear during import in the older versions. This is OK, but, another veryold bug causes an empty error list (to be ignored). 

-  LIVESET did not take Q-load if it was defined on other item than the 1st one-  Swedish Classification trains: Tolerance of inner optimization modified to

speed up calculation

-  TINT: Wrong output of force components in XLS. Note, that local elementdisplacements are output.-  Stress results: If stress points flagged for storing stresses independently from

the strain plane, stresses in envelopes of composite structures might be still become 0 (composite-split-situation with SUPAND/SUPOR). New option toforce recalculation of sigma = E * eps, even the point is flagged (SP+), in-troduced for GUI-list and RMSET. By the way, keeping the chosen stress

 point and easier selection of superposition row implemented for GUI list.-  PreTens: Assembly as alternative input to RMSET.

-  Binary Xls export for Ansi characters with code page (Ü, ä, etc) are now ex- ported correctly.

-  If Windows Open File / Save File dialogs were applied by double-clicking afile, the second button up event could have invoked a click to some button inthe below window which might have caused accidental execution of the re-spective action (e.g. Import TCL --> Add to project). Fixed to catch all situa-tions.

-  Fixed the problem that the path of the last used TCL file has not been usedon opening the file selection dialog.

-  Stage simulation: External Tendons elements are now shown as "active" af-ter STRESS action.

-  RM Loads: Adding a load item of type “load set” is now returning the list ofloads correctly.

-  TCL Import: Added safety query in TCL import dialog before initializing theRM database.

  RM/Modeler  RM/Wizards

-  Geometry for curved alignment with skewed piers at begin and end corrected

Fixes which are also available in patch release v08.10.12.02:

  RM/Modeler Cross sections: After TCL import using a length unit other than Meterexpressions of CS variables were not evaluated correctly to DB units.  RM/Modeler Cross sections: After importing a CS from catalogue to a project using

a length unit other than Meter the expression column of CS variables list did notshow the correct value in user units.

  RM GUI/Element Cross section: For units other than DB the values changed byediting element type in modify dialog.

  RM Cross section: Variables for non linear springs didn’t work.   RM GUI & Plot file viewer: Dotted/dashed lines were solid in interactive graphics.

That happened only for Unicode/Russian language support with new Unicodegraphic fonts

  RM Rolling stock: Data storage did not work properly due to missing texts  RM Loads: Copying schedules did not transfer correctly load set items containing

assemblies.  RM/Modeler Segments: Editing a segment did not allow to input names containing

one of the 3 hot-keys used by this dialog (in English: o, c, and a)  RM Export: Fixed wrong keyword (correctly DAMPV instead of DAMPT) for

structural data of aero classes.

New features and functions:

  Windows 8 (32 and 64 bit) operating system is now supported  RMRESVIEW: (Result Viewer) New concept for result presentation with using

DGN file format and advanced graphics functionality.  Assemblies: New database object collecting elements, nodes and further entities.

These objects may be addressed throughout the program for data specification (e.g.load definition) or result presentation.

  Tendon definition: Optimization of the tendon stressing sequence such that tendonforces have the maximum value within the limits prescribed by the code for differ-ent situations. The three limiting values are defined as tendon parameters.

  Russian localization:-  Manuals translated to Russian-  Support for Russian (Cyrillic) texts in plot files-  Response spectrum for Russia-  Material for concrete, steel and pre-stressing steel-  Time dependent functions for creep, shrinkage, relaxation-  Russian standard steel profiles according to GOST-  Steel and composite checks in accordance with SNiP implemented-  Design Checks according to SNiP for concrete implemented: Fibre Stress

  Wizards: Update combination table for EC by adding a 14th combination  Wizards: A wizard with more than 20 spans could not re-read all span lengths when

opening the wizard again.  Pier type “Columns” in Wizards: Pier type activated for precast, composite and steel

wizard  XLS export improved  GUI: Fixed problem with Windows Vista, Windows7/8 desktop composition. Now

freehand symbols work fast and smooth  GUI: User Theta for shear check was not properly presented in GUI pad - fixed  RM Materials: SIGP = 0.74*fpu  RM Load Cases: Database problem with directly defined load items fixed.  RM Buckle: Crash if "Acc. Stiffness" due to invalid close of external load case –  

 problem fixed.  DGN Import: Support for arcs added. 

  RM ULTREIN: Consideration of sleeve length produced division by 0. Now, ten-dons at such element positions ignored.

  RM Load-Sets: Copying load sets / load cases did not copy the assembly infor-mation of contained load items.

  Modeler Recalc: Wrong management of attribute sets at segment points could pro-duce corrupt database. Corrected.

  RM: Fixed wrong conversion of inverse temperature values, esp. alpha-T of ele-ment/material and temperature.

  Modeler: Axis redraw showed small arcs with big radius as full circle when beginand end point collapsed into the same pixel. Corrected.

  GUI: The layout has changed: the navigation square in the bottom right corner isgone and the size of the log area is now adjustable with a slider. Some pads (sub-windows) which do not produce messages are enlarged to cover the log area.

  RM Load-Sets: Selecting an assembly was possible even if series input was activat-ed in load input pads –  fixed.

  Wizards: Crash calculating distance between girders - fixed  Wizards: Function that calculates distance to axis failed in some cases. Corrected.

This bug was the reason that load calculation failed and all further writing of sched-ule was skipped. The concept is changed now: Even if any load could not be written,

the transfer is not completely stopped now.  RM Load-Sets: Checking for correct series input correctly showed an error message

 but continued with applying the false input.  RM Load-Sets: QVAR** load input dialogs did "convert" the direction vector using

a factor of 0 (--> division by zero). Corrected.  RM cross sections: Values of the flexibility matrix were not shown and/or stored

 properly in the modification dialog –  fixed  DGN Export: Solids were wrongly exported –  fixed  RM Stage simulation: temperature load values were always converted to Fahrenheit,

also for default units, conversion was wrong –  fixed

  Fixed wrong output of superposition results in RMSets when using non-DB (imperi-al) units.

  Fixed a crash which could have occurred after exporting the 3D structure to DGN  Fixed wrong TCL import of separated summation load cases for ILM  Fixed “Undo” function in Modeler CS construction window  Enhancement: Output of moments about global axes in load case list  Enhancement: Shear capacity check: EN 1992 Shear check improved  Steel design check: Fixed problem if Euler length is zero.  RM Cross Sections: Geometrical analysis of cross sections for perimeters failed in

seldom cases. Analysis corrected and check procedure implemented that such casesare recognized earlier. Warnings after cross section calculations will occur.

  RM: GUI Input of PT-force for tendon series failed if imperial units was chosen

  RM Creep: The time functions are modified for Hong Kong standard inrm9_HK.tcl. Now the corresponding internal implementation is adjusted.  RM Creep: Missing time functions (internal formulas) for AS3600-2009 added; re-

laxation for AS5100-1 adjusted acc. to external formulas (rm9_AU.tcl)  RM TINT: Output format for displacements: Deformation factor applied  RM Material: Change of Relaxation Class in material table for British Standard

from value 1 to value 2.  Wizards: Allow arbitrary number of spans instead of not more than 20.

  ULTCHK: Reinforcement defined at composite was not considered –  fixed  ULTSUP: Tendon results were not treated correctly –  fixed  CANTILEVER : Module did not work properly - fixed  Element-CS: Editing an element of type Viscous Damper cleared the angle value -

fixed  SELECT Node lock license activation doesn’t create an entry for the used country.

Therefore you could only start RM with this license, when clicking on <Auto-

Module> in license configuration.

 Now we will use instead the location definition on Windows operating system:

-> Windows XP : Control panel->Regional and language Options->Location -> Windows Vista/7: Control Panel->(Clock, Language and Region)->Region

and Language->Tab location

  Database: A warning is output if the addressed node could not be assigned to theelement. Note that the number of elements connected to a node is limited to 64.

New features and functions:

  RM2REBAR: New function (main menu-> Extras->Rebar ) for exporting RMBridge data (concrete geometry, tendons, location and amount of the required rein-forcement) for Bentley Rebar products.

For processing the exported Rebar reference file either the products Power Rebar

(v08.11.07.70) or Microstation V8i(SELECTseries1 & 2 ) and Bentley Re-

bar(v08.11.07.70)  are required

  Composite Wizard: New function for automatic protocol generation  Tendon geometry: New option added to de-activate constraints on ey, ez  The number of items in the project history has been limited and made configurable

(default is 100 entries).

Fixes and improvements:

  Due to the unlimited number of project history items setting up the history list couldhave caused long delays on program startup. Fixed by limiting the number of items.

  TCL-import: Import of Modeler files extremely speeded up  Added license and default code for Thailand  Added license entry for Chinese response spectrum macro  Modeler: segmentation type was not stored anymore. Corrected.  Tendon calculation revised (smoother alignment). Since structure is changed, all

results may slightly differ.  Tendons used in a PreTens action were not shown active in stage simulation win-

  RM/Analysis, Cables: In RM2006 the recalculation option "Large displacements"also activates large displacement calculation for cable elements. In RMV8i, largedisplacement calculation for cable elements depends on the recalculation option

"Stay cable nonlinear".  RM/Analysis, Structure check: Attribute sets used for reinforcement are checked for

valid materials.

4.16 RM Bridge V8i  08.09.60.04 –  first release

Both we have integrated the RM Software in the Bentley Software and we have mademany improvements in RM itself. Our intension was to extend the functionality and toimprove the comfort. The connection to Bentley Microstation, Projectwise and otherBentley products increases the power of RM a lot.

  RM/Modeller: GP is now part of RM and has to be used from RM. The GP databaseis positioned in the same directory as the RM database.

  RM/Cross: New Administration of cross section catalogue  RM/Cross: Preview for catalogue cross sections  RM/Modeller: The calculation and export of the GP model has been re-organised in

a analogous way to RM calculation (“Recalc” button)   RM/RSTOCK: The fast rolling stock program is part of RM and can be chosen in

the RM menu “Extras”.
