Some who had served, died “in action” on the rank battlefields of death, or elsewhere. Many were wounded and injured and lived with suffering and great courage. Some did not wear military uniforms - like those in the CIA or Department of State. Many lived through the battles or time-in-service without wounds or scars. Some did not have to leave the USA or friendly nations during their service - but did their part. Many served on land, in the air, and on the sea - they were everywhere, wherever needed. Some were Officers, most were not - they all did their job the best they could - men and women in every branch of service - on Active Duty, Reserves, Coast and National Guards. Many wives, husbands, children, parents, brothers, sisters, relatives, and friends sacrificed part of themselves also. They hoped for, prayed for, and supported their loved ones who served. They all tasted danger to preserve the Freedoms which we enjoy today. We take these Freedoms for granted so much, it’s even hard to remember them all. Start with the Bill of Rights and that profound First Amendment to our U.S. Constitution - including Freedoms of Speech and of Worship, and so much more so we can live in peace. Remembering Them All

Memorial Prose by Ken Kozy Huntley Illinois Veterans Memorial

On July 2, 2016, Huntley dedicated a beautiful memorial, remembering them all, everyone, who served and sacrificed themselves as they heard and answered their country’s call. Continue to recognize, we are a Nation of Laws, compassion, liberty, and justice for all. We are diverse: from many countries, races, colors, beliefs, orientations, cultures, and religions. Black, White, Latino, Asian, Native Americans – and many others from around the globe – all seeking safety, equality, opportunity, and fairness – shelter and food for themselves, for their families. To all you Veterans - Thank you for serving. Thank you for your courage. Thank you for being humble. You helped give us protection and joy of living. Remember, we all thank each one of you in our hearts. You all served your great Nation, your God, your families, your friends, and us too. And, let us all remember to quickly bring home our Active Duty troops who stand in harm’s way for us. In our Prayers we thank God for you all, and ask God’s blessings upon you all. Veterans, because of you our lives can be joyful and happy. Now, help us to bring peace back at home. ___
