I challenged us last week to take time each day for prayer, morning and even-ing, and to take time away each year to listen to God on a personal retreat. In my sermon I mentioned various ways of doing this and spoke of places not too

far away from us for retreats. Here are some details on plac-es to enjoy time away with the Lord. Links for each are on our website mhrhadley.org For as I said, we don't want to miss the wonderful plans the Lord Jesus has in mind for us!

Happening Around Our Area

Thank You Meals Program Volunteers! The August 13th weekend meal was a team effort made possible by the following: George and Eric from Quarters who prepared the meal, Heather Klesch who baked the dessert, and Ed and Paul Kosakowski, Sandy Wentworth Miller, Diane Stengle, Kathy Banas and Donna Paddock who delivered the meals. Thank you everyone! Also, special thanks to Ed and Paul Kosakowski who delivered their last meals this month--they've been delivering meals since the program began about 7 years ago and will be greatly missed! And a big thank you to Trevor Fil who has helped with meal prep, making dessert and driving over the last couple of years.

10:30 Mass is Our Family Mass

Children’s Liturgy of the Word at 10:30am Mass will resume in late August

After the beginning of Mass, children (with older sib-lings or parents if they like!) go to the Daily Mass Chapel to take part in an activity and listen to a chil-dren’s version of the Gospel, then rejoin us for the

Procession of Gifts and Eucharistic Prayer.

—————————————————————-

Taking the Scriptures Home —20th Sunday Ordinary Time Matthew 15:21-28 Jesus heals the daughter of the

Canaanite woman because of her great faith.

Family Connection Even when spurned by Jesus, the faith of the Canaanite woman makes her bold enough to argue and ask again for what she needs. Her persistence and great confidence that Jesus could heal her daughter re-minds us of the confidence with which our children bring to us their own needs. In their faith and trust we can find modern examples of how we might approach God in prayer. As a family recall some times when a request for something was presented by one family member to an-other with confidence and persistence. If the request was denied, talk about why that was so. If the request was eventually granted, talk about what led to the change of heart. Then read together today’s Gospel, Matthew 15:21-28. Was anyone surprised by Jesus’ response to the Canaanite woman? Why or why not? What makes Jesus change his mind and heal the woman’s daughter? When we pray, God wants us to be as confident in his mercy. Invite family members to identify the things that they most need from God. Pray these prayers of petition together as a family, confident that God will hear and answer your prayers.

NOTE FOR THOSE WITH WHEAT/ CELIAC ALLERGIES

You may receive the Blood of Christ from the Chalices at any Mass — no

after the 10:30 Mass! Please stop in

Always a good time had by all!
