Library Closings: March 30 Good Friday May 28 Memorial Day To Be Announced Later Staff Training Day
The Remington Library is working to
fill the technology and educational
needs of our community. We are using
grants and gifts for this purpose.
We are currently working on
improving the Tobias Meeting Room.
Blackout blinds and a large screen TV
are being added to the room. We are
currently waiting for the electrician to
do the needed electrical work to make
this happen.
We are working toward making a
MakerSpace Cart that will hold items
children of all ages can use to build
things. It will hold items as simple as
tape, cardboard, string, and fabric. It
will also have construction toys such as
LEGOs and Gears, Gears, Gears. Other
ideas may include batteries, lightbulbs,
wire and more advanced electronic toys
such as littleBits, Dot, and Cubelets.
Some of the more advanced toys will be
purchased through grants or gifts and
some we will get on loan. These items
will support the school’s STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering and
Math) and STEAM (Art is added)
education.
Tinker, Make and Learn. To foster
these ideas, the library will have some
technology kits on loan from the Indiana
State Library April 10-28. Kits include
littleBits, Snap Circuits, Monkey
Monkey, CreoPop 3d Pen, Discover
Electronics, and EVO VR headset. You
may visit the library during this time
and play with one of the kits at the
library. Let us know which kits you
like. We are thinking about purchasing
some of the kits for the library’s
MakerSpace Cart.
