Standard isolation of fixed plant is time consuming hence
significant production hours are lost through isolation personnel
travelling to the sub station, dressing into the arc flash rated
clothing and carrying out the isolation or de-isolation of each
isolator. In addition to the isolation personnel travelling time,
the person(s) carrying out the work on the plant will also need to
travel to the sub station to place or remove their personal locks.
The total isolation time to isolate and de-isolate is essentially
lost production time.

When a REMSAFE isolation system is installed for plant, the
person doing the work carries out the isolation at the fixed plant,
does the work, de-isolates then hands the plant back to production.
There is no need to travel to the sub station and no need to
involve the valuable resource of isolation personnel subjecting
them to the potential of arc flash when switching. The most time
that a REMSAFE isolation or de-isolation will take is less than 3
minutes, providing additional time for production, hence the term;
