PERSPECTIVE AND PROPORTION

Perspective is the technique used to represent a three-dimensional world (what we see) on a two-dimensional surface (a piece of paper or canvas) so it that looks realistic and accurate, as we see it in nature.

Perspective is used to create an illusion of space and depth on a flat surface

Proportion is a principle of art that describes the size, location or amount of one thing to another

Did not have Classical history and ruins around them so Humanism became more concerned with Church reform

Known for technique, detail, and colour/light

Geography affected materials- little marble, frescoes

Portraits, domestic scenes, natural world Symbolism, fantasy and moral

undertones
