Amos O'Neal Flood
Amos O'Neal Flood was born in Aplin, Arkansas in November, 1922. Amos was born and raised on the family
farm. He had 1 brother and 2 sisters, all three have now died. Amos attended high school in Arkansas and
played on the basketball team. He also enjoyed animals and says he had a good teacher for vocational agricul-
ture, Mr. Bell, who helped Amos' family with the animals on the farm since there was no veterinarian in the area.
Amos is especially fond of horses and said he competed in a horse race once at the County Fair where he re-
ceived 2nd place. After completing high school, Amos attended Arkansas State Teachers College for 2 years.
Amos states the he originally wanted to be a veterinarian but his schooling was interrupted. Amos enlisted in
the Army Reserve Corp in 1943 in order to obtain an extra year of college. However, his unit was called out in
1944, and he was sent to France. When Amos' unit arrived in Rouen, France, they took over an US Army Hospital.
After Amos' unit set up the hospital, part of his unit was sent to Frankfurt, Germany to a U.S. Hospital there.
Amos was a Sergent and served as a Medical Laboratory Technician and Personnel Administrator. While in Ger-
many, one of Amos' soldier friends introduced Amos to Suzanne Stuss. Suzanne spoke no English but picked it up
real fast. Amos and Suzanne were married in 1945. After WWII Amos stayed in Germany as a War Department
Civilian. In 1947 , he and Suzanne moved back to the United States. After returning, Amos attended the Universi-
ty of Arkansas where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. He and Suzanne moved to Willow
Springs, Missouri where Amos was a high school Vocational Agriculture Instructor for 30 years. Amos and Su-
zanne had 2 children, Bettina and William. Amos says they had a beautiful family home in Missouri on 3 acres.
They had a garden, and behind the house was a woodland area full of oak trees. Amos says the house sat on a
hill and the Sheriff would come and sit on the porch to watch for tornados during a storm as it was the highest
part of town. Suzanne passed away three years ago on her birthday, August 8th. Amos stayed in Missouri until
December of 2011, when he moved to Daniel, Wyoming to live with his daughter, Bettina and her husband, Rol-
lie. Amos has one granddaughter who is now 15, and was here with her father, Bill, to visit in July. One of his
new hobbies are the chickens. Amos loves to play pool, and you can usually see him at Rendezvous Pointe for
Pool Lessons on Wednesdays. He says he also liked to garden when he was back home but it is has been a little
frustrating here. Amos says he has always been a Baptist and loves to go to church and sing. One of Amos' favor-
ite seasons is Spring because he loves to see thing grow, life come back, and nature "doing its thing". He hates
gloomy weather and did not particularly enjoy the long winter. When asked what he enjoys about Rendezvous
Point he said he loves the people here because they are so real. He says they have been very nice to him and he
really appreciates it. He also says the food in wonderful.

Lenore For Lenore Percy, travel agent I've ridden the buses, I've ridden the trains, but always preferred the quickness of planes. My agent in Pinedale, who always seems busy, rearranges my plans till I'm a bit dizzy; she types on computer and talks on the phone and spends half her time in the twilight zone. I ask her for "this" and she gives me "that," and I try to explain that I'm not there to chat. In winter her office is like a deep freeze with a circular fan to create a soft breeze, and talking on phones it's always, "Please hold;" it's a wonder that ever a ticket gets sold. I ask her for coupons to keep the price down and get in return her ridiculous frown and a sermon on travel in this world of ours till you'd think she was selling a ticket to Mars. The tiniest book with the days of the year is her present to me, and my only fear is that somehow this calendar will order my life to maudlin extremes of incalculable strife; so whenever my planning begins to unravel, I'll send all my problems to Rendezvous Travel. —C. F. Kelly
Un-Birthday Tea Party
Dinner and Theater!!!
You are just hours away from an evening of food, intrigue, and comedy. Join us at the Gun Barrel Steak and Game House for a nice dinner followed by a live performance of “The 39 Steps” at the Off Square theater in Jackson. The play is set during May and June 1914; Eu-rope is close to war and spies are everywhere. Richard Hannay has just returned to London from Rhodesia in order to begin a new life, when a freelance spy called Franklin P. Scudder calls on him to ask for help. Scudder reveals to Hannay that he has uncovered a German plot to murder the Greek Premier and steal British plans for the outbreak of war. Scudder claims to be following a ring of German spies called the Black Stone. A few days later, Hannay re-turns to his flat to find Scudder murdered. And, you’ll have to pay Beth $20 to find out how it ends! Sign up now for the August 10th dinner and theater evening of intrigue. Sign-up by Monday, August 6th. Trip depends on availability of tickets.

Are you up for an August adventure? Consider a trip
to Meeteetse. Meeteetse is an old western town just
50 miles north of Thermopolis. Founded in the
1890’s, the word Meeteetse is an old Shoshone Indi-
an word for “meeting place”. The town retains much
of its original character with wooden boardwalks,
wooden watering troughs, hitching rails and many
old buildings from the turn of the century. Noted
outlaw Butch Cassidy lived in Meeteetse and in 1894
he was arrested in front of the Cowboy Bar. You will
want to visit their infamous saloon, the Outlaw as
well as the world famous chocolatier, Tim Kellogg
who owns a shop in town. Have lunch here and then
venture down to Thermopolis to spend a refreshing
evening at the Day’s Inn Hot Springs Convention Cen-
ter. The hotel features a gym, internet, pool, restau-
rant, salon, spa, bar, and a hot mineral jucuzzi fed
from the nearby hot springs. Enjoy a free breakfast
the next morning and then off to enjoy the Wyoming
Dinosaur Center or if you like relax at one of the hot
springs pools before your departure back home.
Your choice!
