90 years of Renfert – thanks to you!

Content

The success and value of a brand is not only

based on the exquisite properties or com-

prehensive service. It is much more impor-

tant that the user is confident and familiar

with the product. This is why the partner-

ship dialogue with you was and is very im-

portant to us. Your many years of loyal-

ty and solidarity with Renfert show us that

we have chosen the correct approach. We

would like to thank you very much for that

at this stage!

For more than 90 years now you could rely

on our product solutions. In our anniversary

year we have again extended our core com-

petences and additions to several unit fami-

lies: thus you can sandblast even more effi-

ciently with the Basic eco and with the two

SILENT compact extractors you can keep

your workstation and milling machine auto-

matically free of dust and noise. We also

have a strong online presence for you: since

January we have started our blog, via which

we would like to exchange ideas more di-

rectly with you. We always welcome your

questions and suggestions.

Even after 90 years there are many new de-

velopments at Renfert. Let’s look to the fu-

ture together, celebrate with us and we

hope you will enjoy reading the report!

RENFERT PRESENTS …

The objective for 90 years: “Making work easy”

Since 1925 Renfert has stood for intelligent solutions in the laboratory

90 years and not a little bit quiet (apart from the ultra-quiet SILENT extrac-tors). Renfert was founded in Essen, Germany, in 1925 by Ernst und Herbert Renfert and since then their dental technology units and materials are part of the standard equipment in many laboratories around the world – and every year there are more satisfied users.

Why?Because the family company has never de-

viated from its principles: Renfert research-

es and develops not just for dental techni-

cians but also in collaboration with them.

The company does not place emphasis on

quick solutions but on sustainable solutions.

Renfert not only provides dental technicians

with reliable, high-performance products,

which make their work easier, make the dai-

ly processes more reliable and cost-effective

but also inspire them – for example because

of easy maintenance and assembly, sophis-

ticated design or practical details.

The dental technician profession has be-

come even more demanding and complex.

Renfert has continually scrutinized product

solutions according to increased require-

ments. Simultaneously, new equipment and

materials have been produced and existing

systems supplemented with practical instru-

ments. Thereby the maximum always re-

mains: “Making work easy”.

People for peoplea key factor for the success are certainly

the people. Currently 180 employees work

in Hilzingen near the Lake of Constance in

Germany. Renfert was always keen to pro-

mote its employees but also to acquire new

qualified employees to support dental tech-

nicians with long-standing know-how, as

well as fresh new ideas.

The exchange with users and specialist deal-

ers is very important for them. In particular,

top quality information and ideas enable

new products to be developed and im-

proved. No product is put on the market un-

til it has been extensively tested beforehand

by experienced dental technicians. Master

Dental Technician Jost Prestin from Radolf-

zell, Germany was involved in the develop-

ment process of the Polish polishing pastes

and Dental Technician Guido Testa from Ita-

ly jointly developed the large wax knife for

the Waxlectric.

Quality “made in Germany”Renfert also stands for outstanding quality

»made in Germany«. In-house quality con-

trols at Lake Constance and test phases in

internationally renowned laboratories en-

sure that users only receive absolutely high-

quality product solutions. all products are,

of course, tested according to current stan-

dards and are ISO certified.

There is no success without a commit-

ted management: The fourth genera-

tion change is now being prepared. after

Klaus-Ulfert Rieger took over the company

in 1969, he developed it into a worldwide

active dental company. His son, Dr. Sören

Rieger, joined the company in 1982 and

gradually took over all business divisions. He

is currently preparing Sören Hug as his des-

ignated successor, who has been part of the

company management since 2015.

Service – on- and offlineanother elementary component is the wide-

ranging service and advisory provision. The

dental company was one of the first to in-

troduce a 3-year guarantee on equipment,

provide a 48-hour repair and loan unit ser-

vice and guarantee a 10-year replacement

part /(investments) security – ensuring

greater continuity in the working process

and fewer downtimes! Renfert also pro-

vides dental technicians with sound support

in their daily working routine through com-

prehensive information and advice in six

languages – online and offline.

Competence extension by the multi-workstation extractor SILENT V4

90 years and the success story continues

Renfert products are now supplied in 120

countries. Due to different market require-

ments the European, american and asiat-

ic distribution operations are being conse-

quently developed at a local level. Renfert

Brazil was therefore recently established –

for even more service on location and short-

ened delivery times because of the availabil-

ity of goods.

Genuine solutions with added valueTo ensure the wishes of dental technicians

are optimally implemented the Design and

Development Department is being contin-

uously extended – with the focus on genu-

ine solutions suitable for daily use and effi-

ciency. The benefits of every detail, however

small, are continuously scrutinized, refined

and improved. For the IDS 2015, for ex-

ample, the SILENT extractors will be sup-

plemented (SILENT compactCaM for ex-

traction of the CaM unit) and the Basic

microblasters will also receive a new high-

performance family member with the Ba-

sic eco.

Renfert products therefore offer dental tech-

nicians intelligent solutions with added val-

ue – whether because of easy handling,

easy assembly and maintenance, increased

reliability or reduced costs. The declared

aim of Renfert is not short-term success but

the overall concept, which extends well be-

yond the point of purchase and which never

leaves the dental technician stranded with-

out support – for over 90 years and with

certainty also in the future.

Experience for all 5 senses: uncomplicated and automatic extraction of the CAM unit

Renfert SILENT compactCAM extraction system in the “senses laboratory test”

“I thought there was no second chance for the first impression and

I was proven otherwise. This was because my first skeptical impres-

sion was concerned with the compactness of the unit: such a small

unit is intended to be adequate for a medium-sized CaM unit? My

second impression was concerned with the operating noise, which

is hardly perceptible; the extraction is remarkably quiet. The new SI-

LENT compactCaM system, which our dental laboratory received

from Renfert for testing even before the market launch, was test-

ed thoroughly by us and with all five senses. One thing should be

made clear at the outset: The extractor has passed the “senses test”

and it meets all three name components: silent, compact and CaM

suitable.

What does a dental laboratory require of its units for them to be suc-

cessful in the daily routine? In the first instance, they must function,

be maintenance-free, not be noticeably big and make the working

processes easier. This also applies of course for an extraction system.

With the SILENT compactCaM Renfert has extended its successful

range of SILENT extractors by a new unit directly for CaM systems –

with the aim of providing small and medium-sized laboratories and

dentists, who operate a CaM benchtop system that dry mills rela-

tively soft materials such as porous pre-sintered ceramics and resins,

with a compact, high-performance unit for extracting the fine dust

that arises. First, a few words about the SILENT suction turbine and

the newly developed SPS interface.

Motor technology: durable and process reliableThe unit is equipped with an easily exchangeable collector motor,

Andreas FrankMaster Dental Technician

from Freiburg, Germany

which in comparison with competitors’ models that have collec-

tor motors has a considerably higher service life (>800 operating

hours). The transformer control, which was specially developed

by Renfert, is responsible for the resulting higher processing re-

liability.

SPS interface: automatic extraction controlThe SILENT compactCaM has a special SPS interface, which enables

bidirectional communication with a CaM unit. Up to now the ex-

traction could only be switched on an off by the CaM system (24 V

command signal). For the first time the new unit can also process

messages and initiate appropriate measures – for example switch-

ing on and off, activation of the self-cleaning of the ultra-fine filter,

query the functional status of the extractor, etc.

We have had the SILENT compactCaM extractor in our laborato-

ry since the middle of September 2014. It has been used daily and

tested by myself and my partner, Master Dental Technician Bodo

Bittner. The impressions of our fives senses about the new unit are

the following.

Visual appearance: modern and high-quality designThe eye is the most important sense organ of humans. It is always

said: a feast for the eyes! It is beneficial if a dish of food not only

tastes good but also looks good. This also naturally applies for the

working material in a laboratory. Thus a good extraction system

should not only leave a dust-free workplace but also a good visu-

Page 9: Renfert Report 01/15 EN

9

EXPERT REPORT

al impression – this is the case with the SILENT compactCaM unit.

It has an attractively packaged housing made from a special plas-

tic, which lends the extractor a high-quality and modern appear-

ance. In our laboratory we positioned the compact unit in a cup-

board directly under the CaM unit, where it made a good visual

impression.

Worth listening to: a genuinely quiet machine for the earsRenfert SILENT extractors really do operate extremely quietly – this is

also the case for the new unit. Despite the use of plastic as the hous-

ing material the company has successfully kept the noise emission to

a very low level. Unpleasant frequencies for the ear have been very

successfully reduced by sound insulation and damping measures

with the help of pyschoacousticians, who deal scientifically with au-

ditory perception.

a good nose: reliably free of dust, optimally protectedPowerful, reliable extraction of all the fine dust in a laboratory means

reliable health protection for dental technicians and consequently

also a dust-free nose. With a filtration efficiency of 99.9% the SI-

LENT compactCaM provides optimum protection against hazardous

dusts. For the conceived CaM application – we processed materials

such as zirconium dioxide, PEEK, PMMa and wax – it had an opti-

mum suction efficiency comparable to that of much bigger extrac-

tors. It is therefore completely adequate for all applications that arise

in our laboratory.

Hard to believe: easy and uncomplicatedDental technology still remains a handicraft. We trim, drill and base,

build-up porcelain, apply die spacer and prepare every day. and we

are pleased if our hands do not have to be involved in maintenance

of the units or we don’t lose any valuable time on a complicated

case.

absolutely no tactile sensation impressions can really be used to de-

scribe the SILENT compactCaM because the unit neither requires at-

tention nor a great deal of servicing. The system runs unnoticed in

the background and untouched by us in the cupboard. The suction

also operates without a bag; this means we don’t have to change

any dust bags anymore. We only have to empty the dust container

occasionally, which is done easily and quickly. The automatic clean-

ing of the fine filter as required is also an advantage both from an

economic and handling point of view. In brief: The suction system

is so independent and uncomplicated to use that we hardly have to

touch it.

Good taste: a treat for the laboratoryThe new extraction system cannot be tasted but it was completely to

our taste. It enables extraction of the CaM unit in line with the SI-

LENT concept “stronger, cleaner, quieter”. The fact that it functions

automatically and we no longer have to operate it at all makes our

daily routine in the laboratory easier and saves us time. It operates

simply reliably, silently and with powerful suction – in brief: a real

pleasure for all the senses!

Something that was also to our taste from a dental technology point

of view: In addition to the SILENT compactCaM, there is also anoth-

er new small unit for connecting to a single dental laboratory work-

station. The model is called SILENTcompact and it has an intelligent

automatic switch-on, for handpieces for example. While the unit we

tested has a fixed, defined suction power level the other unit has the

choice of two suction levels. This new process-optimized worksta-

tion extraction also makes complete sense (in order to be included

in this test report)!”

Step by step and tip by tip to increased knowledge and a precise partial denture

Renfert training for model fabrication at Dentcare Dental Lab in Southern India

Making work easy – with this motto Renfert not only provides innovative product solutions but also detailed product knowledge, dental technology know-how and tips and tricks for mainte-nance and care of equipment and materials. This is because knowledge of the product alone does not make a good and satisfied dental technician.

Renfert employees are also aware of this. For many years they have

been committed to the transfer of knowledge on a partnership ba-

sis. at the end of October 2014, for example 50 employees from

the Dentcare Dental Lab were trained in the Southern Indian town

of Muvattupuza by Hayati Dasbilek (owner of VIP Dental Lab Pvt.

Ltd, Bangalore, India) and Jeannette Giesche (area Sales Manag-

er, asia/Pacific, at Renfert). The objective: more process reliability in

the areas of CrCo work, wax/investing and model preparation by

increased competence and detailed knowledge.

The first day for the course participants involved »Step-by-step to

functional model fabrication with precision perfection«. In small

groups they discussed the individual working stages from prepar-

ing the impression, fabricating a master model to trimming, articu-

lating, drilling, pinning and basing and on, to sawing, preparing and

applying die spacer, whereby various products from Renfert were

used such as Twister, Vibrax, Trimmer, Top spin, Pro-Fix Pins, waxes

and die:master die spacers.

Tips and tricks on care and maintenance of equipmentDasbilek continually gave the Dentcare Dental Lab employees tips

on the maintenance and cleaning of equipment – for example:

“If the cutter is cleaned using a toothbrush directly after trimming

the dental arch, it extends the service life of the cutter and guar-

antees the user absolute precision again when it is next.” another

tip from him: “after trimming, the partially diamond-coated Mar-

athon disc should always be coated briefly with water, so that the

accumulated plaster is removed.” and to ensure that the pin is re-

liably anchored long-term in the plaster model he recommended

placing a drop of super glue on a piece of cardboard, briefly im-

mersing the model pin in the glue and then inserting it precisely.

“A small drop of water or glue in the right place can contrib-ute greatly to the durability of the equipment or process reli-ability!”

Hayati Dasbilek

The second day of training dealt with CrCo work and in particu-

lar with analysis and planning, according to Dasbilek: “Only careful

planning is the basis for quick, precise fabrication of a partial den-

ture, which is still amongst the most frequently used form of treat-

ment worldwide.” after a short theoretical component, he dem-

onstrated in small groups “step-by-step” the fabrication of a cast

partial denture. Renfert also continually gave the course participants

valuable suggestions and user tips on how to organize procedures

and processes even more reliably in the laboratory.

Bubble-free plaster using the vacuum mixing techniqueHe pointed out the particular advantages of the vacuum mixing

technique: “Bubbles may be created when mixing plaster manual-

ly and the model can fracture more readily during subsequent pro-

cessing. The Twister mixes plaster guaranteed bubble-free.” The in-

structor also advised participants to connect the dental arch trimmer

Millo or Millo pro to an efficiently functioning extraction to reliably

prevent the accumulation of plaster dust. Dasbilek particularly re-

ferred to the advantages of the compact Silent V4 multi-worksta-

tion extraction, which not only operates extremely quietly but guar-

antees effective protection against dust and thus ensures maximum

protection of health.

a speech by Jeannette Giesche, in which she also focused on health

protection, formed a successful conclusion to the two-day event in

Muvattupuza.

Dentcare Dental Lab specializes in

the fabrication of dental prostheses.

The laboratory was founded in 1988

by John Kuriakose in Muvattupuza

(Southern India) with the objective of

fabricating high-quality dentures for

the Indian market according to inter-

national standards. Today the com-

mercial laboratory employs approx.

3000 workers and, with the opening

of the “International Department” in

april 2015, its activities will extend be-

yond the boundaries of India into inter-

national markets.

Dentcare Dental Lab

The area Sales Manager for the asia/Pacific region spoke about the

daily dust and noise exposure in a dental laboratory and explained

which advantages a functional and efficient extraction would have,

particularly in a commercial laboratory: “The investment in a mod-

ern extraction system is not simply an investment in a practical unit

but also mainly in healthy employees! Silent V4, for example enables

individually adjustable suction power, adapted to the particular re-

quirement. The unit is quiet “times four” and can be operated for up

to four users simultaneously – for maximum health protection with

minimum maintenance costs and space requirements.”

Not only the employees of Dentcare Dental Lab were enriched by

many impressions at the end of the successful event, Jeannette Gie-

sche was also satisfied: “Service and good advice are the parameters

that Renfert focuses on in cooperation with specialist dealers for the

benefit of dental technicians. We not only want to develop and sup-

ply good products but provide the user with deep knowledge about

the quality factors of the products and thus ensure increased process

reliability and cost-effectiveness in the laboratory – to make long-

term, satisfied and enthusiastic Renfert fans of users.”

Quality and high-tech supports all-ceramic precision and esthetics

The fabrication of all-ceramic restorations with an esthetic and precise demand requires high-quality materials and instruments for the fabrication process.

as our products are subject to continuous development, product illustrations are intended only as examples. Renfert offers a 3-year guarantee on all equipment provided it is used according to instructions. The original sales invoice of the dental supplier is required for a claim under guarantee. The guarantee excludes parts that are subject to normal wear and tear. Incorrect use, disregard of the oper-ating, cleaning, maintenance and installation instructions, in-house repairs or repairs by unauthorised personnel, use of replacement parts from another manufacturer and exceptional factors not covered by the instructions for use render the guarantee invalid. a suc-cessful claim under the guarantee does not extend the guarantee period.
