Stoody Vancar E

A coated fabricated electrode that contains specially formulated vanadium tungsten carbide particles approximately equal to tungsten carbide in hardness but at only half the density. Stoody 964 G/AP-G

Deposit is a specially formulated wear-resistant alloy that produces a uniform distribution of small primary carbides in a martensitic matrix. The small carbides provide greatly improved wear resistance over martensitic steel, many tool steels, and some conventional chromium carbide alloys. 964-G possesses excellent resistance to impact and plastic deformation. Deposits are crack-free on carbon 300 stainless and manganese steels. Other base metals should be preheated and post-heated appropriately. The material is characterized by high hardness and excellent wear resistance. 964-G is recommended for parts where cross checking is undesirable. 964-G offers improved weldability over chromium carbide and many other tool steel welding wires.

The presence of the small carbides greatly improves the wear resistance when compared to M-7 tool steel. Stoody 966-G provides wear resistance greater than or equal to that of conventional chromium carbides but does not cross check when proper preheat and welding procedures are used. It is recommended for parts where cross checking is undesirable. It can be applied crack-free without preheating on carbon, 300 series stainless, and manganese steels – when proper preheat and interpass temperatures are maintained. Post-weld heat treatment may be required for other base metals. The deposit will crack on cast irons. The material is characterized by a high hardness.

Stoody SOS 307 MOD

Offers the productivity and efficiencies of continuous welding wire and the convenience and low cost of open arc (gas-less) welding. Welding can be done indoors or outdoors – even in moderate wind or draft conditions. Weldability is excellent, producing weld deposits that are sound and clean with flat to slightly convex bead shape. Stoody SOS wire deposits have a lower percentage of penetration than GMAW deposits at the same current levels which means less dilution and distortion. Wire can be used as a direct replacement for solid stainless wires or electrodes of the same grade both in fabricating and overlay applications. It does not require specialized equipment. For best results, constant voltage and direct current power sources are recommended.

DOWNHAND ONLY – used to join carbon and low alloy steels, 14% manganese steels, and armor plate. It can be used as a buffer layer before hardfacing and applications where work-hardening is required. Sugar mill press roll sprockets.

Stoody Vancar-O

A tubular open arc wire which results in a deposit containing vanadium and tungsten carbide. The wear resistance of vanadium carbide is greater than that of chromium carbide but less than that of tungsten carbide. An advantage of vanadium carbide particles is that they dissolve during the welding operation and then reform in the deposit, providing even distribution. Vancar-O can be used in hot wear applications up to 4,800°C (9,000°F). Deposits are not machinable and cannot be flame cut.

OK Tubrodur 35 S M

OK Tubrodur 15.40S is a flux-cored wire for SAW hardfacing in conjunction with OK Flux 10.71, depositing a manganese-chromium-molybdenum-alloyed weld metal with a hardness of 32-36 Rockwell C. Suitable for surfacing wheel runners, track links, wheels and rollers for conveyor belts, wheels for mine trucks, rolls, and shafts, where a hardness within the range of 32-40 Rockwell C is desired. With negative polarity, less heat input to the base material, less dilution of the weld metal, and a higher deposition rate are obtained. In most cases, surfacing with OK Tubrodur 15.40S can be performed without preheating. The need for preheat and increased interpass temperature is determined by the weldability of the parent material in question and the form and dimensions of the workpiece. Whenever possible, surfaced axles and similar objects, which are exposed to bending stress during rotation, should always be stress relieved at 500-600°C.

The wire may also be used with OK Flux 10.71 for fillet welding applications. This product has been successfully used in tube-to-fin applications with OK Flux 10.71. Preheating dependent on thickness up to 300°C is essential, followed by post-weld heat treatment at 650-700°C.

Steels with a similar composition to those used in steam boilers, process plants and piping, together with pressure vessels in the power generation industry
