• THE LE REPLACES A ELLA (TO HER).

• You use these pronouns to replace the indirect object and shorten your sentence.

• Example:

• Yo tiré el balón a ti.

Yo te tiré el balón.

• Ellos dieron el coche a nosotros.

Ellos nos dieron el coche.

Le and Les

• Le = him, her, you (formal)• Les – them, you (plural)

• Carlos prepara la cena para Ana. Carlos le prepara la cena.

• Maria compró el regalo para su novio. Maria le compró el regalo.

• Yo preparé el postre para ellos.

Yo les preparé el postre.

• Because le and les have more than one meaning, you might want to leave the indirect object in the sentence.

• This will not shorten up your sentences but it will clarify who it is you are talking about.

• Sometimes that is more important than shortening up your sentences!!
