This report is to be used for EAAFP publications, website and SNS (Facebook, Flicker and etc.) to raise awareness of importance of conservation for migratory waterbirds and encourage more people to join this global campaign. Where is the EAAF region? What is the outcome from your event? (Outcome)
The audiences are aware of the migratory birds and flyways. And also the students are familiar with the information of Spoon-billed Sandpiper. After the event, the famous monk who is managing the monastery education center in Kelatha Wildlife Sanctuary. BANCA team to give education and awareness activities at his monastery. The monk is very much willing to invite BANCA team to his education center and explain about the migratory birds species and conservation of Gulf of Mottama. Other communities are also aware of the migratory birds day event who are live outside of Gulf of Mottama area, through broadcasting in media channel.

This event should be celebrated along the flyway counties’ site. In Myanmar, this is the first time celebrated and should be organized other wetlands and migratory birds habitat area and with the participation of Park wardens, wetlands managers and community in future.

3. SHORT SUMMARY REPORT
2016 World Migratory Birds Day event was organized by BANCA and held in BANCA site base station at TheinNgu village, Mon State with the support of EAAFP. Before organizing the event, BANCA education team prepared and printing information on WMBD pamphlets, posters and other IEC materials. BANCA prepared answers and questions of Spoon-billed Sandpiper and printout SBS counts poster which created by Hong Kong Bird Watching Society. BANCA invited 70 school children and 30 local community including ex-bird poachers, village heads. During the event, the journal list from Kamayut media had interviewed ex-poachers’ feeling on bird conservation activities
with BANCA and BANCA team. BANCA provided venue, sound system and projector. BANCA carried out the WMBD event with 9 agendas on 10th May 2016. After the presentation of Spoon-billed Sandpiper, the BANCA team organized quiz section, how the students are aware of the Spoon-billed Sandpiper and counted the numbers of SBS in the posters. BANCA contributes “Shore bird of Mottama” guide book and other stationary to school children.
