PSYCHOSOCIAL REHABILITATION OF CHILD BEGGARS
IIT, MOLCHAND, MUNIRKA Flyover, New Delhi (May 2017)
Date: 26th May 2017
On 26th May 2017 The IIT, MOLCHAND, MUNIRKA Flyover was covered by our Clinical
Psychologists along with team of Counselors had an Orientation Workshop with about 20 children
(age group : 6-18 years). The Interaction focused on their Psychosocial Wellbeing at MOBILE
CLASSROOM EDUCATIONAL VAN a Continuous Campaign for Awareness & Sensitization at the
Traffic Signals took the pace with great enthusiasm
Observation: It was found that children were living in an unhygienic condition and were less taken
care of by their parents. Few students were going to school but there was lack of stability as they
move from place to place. There was a threat to their survival from other migrants. This has affected
their psychosocial wellbeing. Parents were Psycho-educated about the importance of education and
counseled about the basic hygiene and maintenance of holistic health.

Expressions India envisages furtherance of this program in the selected clusters for the school based advocacy and training for teachers, students and parents. On the same regard, we visited Damdama village, Gurugram on 6th July 2017, Thursday. The aim of the visit was to pre plan about the technical areas as follows:
Recognizing the Needs and Concerns of Children and Families
Informal Observation and Screening for Emotional, Behavioral and Learning Problems
Interaction with Parents for Promoting Health & Wellbeing
Comprehensive Psycho-educational Assessment for Slow Learners
School Based Counseling and Career Guidance for Adolescence
Emotional Wellbeing & Holistic Development of the Community, Especially Students.
Health Checkups and Camps for Identifying and Managing Common Disorders via Mobile Classroom
Van
There were two schools that were surveyed. One school was of
Primary Students (1-5th class) and another school was of Middle
students (6th-8th class). The visit included meeting the Panchayat,
Sarpanch, and Head Master of School for the Need
Analysis. Discussion related to the psychosocial assessment of children
and Behavioural Difficulties such as Anger, Hyperactive Behaviour
and Selective Mutism was shared by the Head Master. Also, teachers
and sarpanch were informed about the Health Checkups and Camps
for Identifying and Managing Common Disorders via MOBILE
CLASSROOM EDUCATIONAL VAN, healthy and hygiene charts
inside the van were showed to them. Any special needs particular to
the village or school or community that the Panchayat and teachers feel. We met the children in the
schools as a thorough visit was done in the school premises.

showed to the teachers staff.
Learning Outcomes and Process Indicators -
a) Focus of the program was on creating awareness amongst teachers about different learning
and behavioral issues that students may face in a classroom setting.
b) Teacher's were apprised and briefed on how on the basis of certain behaviors in children are
indicators of a major problem in developmental years.
c) Interventions through clinical assessment and follow up can lead to a successful prognosis
(including assessment of IQ & Learning disability).
d) Psychosocial and emotional wellbeing of the care givers (parents) is crucial for better
facilitation of their schooling years.
e) Health Checkups and Camps for Identifying and Managing Common Disorders via MOBILE
CLASSROOM EDUCATIONAL VAN was apprised by teachers and show interest for these
kind of training programs

Teacher's Training Workshop On Common Emotional, Behavioral And Learning
Problems In Adolescence & Mobile Classroom Education Van Visit Kadarpur
(July 2017)
The Smartgram next step programs, Kadarpur Cluster workshops started yesterday via The
MOBILE CLASSROOM EDUCATIONAL VAN. The Expressions India faculty conducted the training at GPS Government School, Kadarpur on 28th of July 2017.
Goals
The Student's workshop included topics such as health, hygiene and communicable disease with students of grades 7 and 8. Approximately 130 students were present which were divided into 6 groups. They were shown videos regarding “helping each other” and “clean India, green India” which was followed by discussions. Following are the Learning Outcomes for Students
1. Importance of health and hygiene, what are communicable diseases and how they spread.
2. ways of maintaining them, “Swachhh Bharat Abhiyaan” -its importance and how to keep environment clean;
3. While talking about cleanliness of the environment, issue of substance abuse was also introduced.
4. Senior girl students also sought counseling on common adolescent concerns.
Teacher's training program in Govt. Senior School at Kadarpur on 28/07/17. Following are the Learning Outcomes for Teachers:- a. Why is it imperative to understand the new age adolescent? b. Identifying and Understanding behaviours, such as truancy, bullying, lack of
academic inclination, substance and alcohol abuse and its prevalence. c. Need for clinical appraisal and assessment. d. Role of teachers beyond class room teaching.
It would mainly pertain to taking a feedback on their understanding and identification of problems in learning and behaviours for better adjustment and progressive positive consequences.

Teacher's Training Program at Palra Village (August 2017)
The Workshop was held at Government High School at Palra Village on 4th August, 2017. It was attended by 27 teachers of Govt. High School as well as Govt. Primary School. The teachers were explained about importance and use of MOBILE CLASSROOM EDUCATIONAL VAN. Which had audio visual facilities for the better understanding of the content.
Sessions were interactive and the topics discussed were-
1. Helping teachers to understand the importance of
Classroom Management
2. How expresses behaviors of children can aid
identification of problematic behavior
3. Dealing sensitively with relationship issues amongst adolescence.
4. Identification of developmental disorders and learning disabilities
5. Developing a better understanding of peer influence
and the role of family-school partnership in the
psychosocial development of children.
6. Helping and assisting students to manage anger and
overcome frustration.
7. Role of teachers as a Counselor and facilitator.
Methodology used-
1. Audio visual presentation on key childhood and adolescent development, developmental disorders
and learning disabilities
2. Role play on substance abuse, aggression and depression
3. Brain storming on cultural norms and gender issues.
Learning outcomes and the road ahead-
1. Teacher's were apprised and briefed on how on the basis of certain expressed behaviors by children
an early identification could be done of the problem.
2. Focus also needs to come on psycho-social education of parents since issues of child marriage are
still prevalent and girl child drop out happens due to this reason.
3. The age for substance abuse seems to be coming down. Therefore, substance abuse counseling
should be an integral part of training.
4. Interventions through clinical assessment and follow up can lead to a successful diagnosis.
5. Psychosocial and emotional wellbeing of the care givers along with the child is very important for
better, progressive and enhanced facilitation of children.

Teacher's Training Program at Abheypur Village (August, 2017)
The Workshop was held at Government High School at Abheypur Village on 11th August 2017. It was attended by approximately15 teachers of the school. The teachers were explained about importance and use of MOBILE CLASSROOM EDUCATIONAL VAN. As the van was fully equipped with audio/visual setting, for all interactive sessions with students and teachers as well as with teachers Sessions were interactive and the topics discussed were-
1. Identification and Screening of problematic behavior such as conduct issues and hyperactive
behavior.
2. Helping teachers to understand the importance of Classroom Management
3. Identification of developmental disorders and learning disabilities
4. Developing a better understanding of peer
influence and the role of Family-School
Partnership in the psychosocial development
of children.
5. Tackling self harming behavior
6. Role of teachers as a Counselor and
facilitator.
Methodology used-

Learning outcomes and the road ahead
1. Teacher's were apprised of the key
adolescent issues and briefed on the basis of
certain expressed behaviors by children. An
early identification could be done of the problem.
2. More in-depth knowledge and ways of handling self harming behavior since incidence as well
as threats of self harm are high in Abheypur.
3. Workshops with children on holistic health and hygiene issues came as a strong
recommendation by the teachers.
4. Interventions through Clinical Assessment and follow up can lead to a successful diagnosis.

THE LIFE EMPOWERMENT AWARDS FOR SCHOOLS 2017
at India International Centre, New Delhi (August 2017)
“The Life Empowerment Awards for Schools
2017” is an initiative of Expressions India – The
National Life Skills, Values Education & School
Wellness Program, for Promotion & Recognition
of Holistic Development in Schools. The program
was held on 17th August 2017 at India
International Centre, New Delhi. The first of
its kind, these awards were launched, with the
aim of strengthening the co-scholastic aspects of
child development and to facilitate mentoring of
best practices in holistic education. The concept
of these awards has received an overwhelming
response from schools across the nation. Awards
will be given away to the Schools, Principals,
Teachers and Counselors by eminent
personalities from the field of Education, Life
Skills, Health & Wellbeing and Art & Value
Education.
In the morning, the symposium was decoding
the Schooling Years – Every Child Matter for
Holistic Development it remain continue
amongst the students, panelist,
teacher/counselors & principal. The vast
discussion by the brilliant students from Delhi
schools, panelist and audience encouraged us a
lot to think deeper and made us more confident
for our crusade to support the cause of
empowering changes. The recommendation and
road ahead provided us a guideline to proceed
more precisely for the betterment of this noble
cause.
This pioneering event had the most astonishing brief program at MOBILE CLASSROOM
EDUCATIONAL VAN where students were taught Life Skills- the life long journey quiz. Students
of different schools enthusiastically participated in the brain storming quiz by this innovative
technology to enhance their critical thinking skills

The Workshop was held at Government Middle School at Dumduma Village on 30th August, 2017. It was attended by 10 teachers of Govt. Middle School as well as Govt. Primary School along with 70 students. Sessions were interactive and the topics discussed were-
1. Helping teachers to understand the
importance of Classroom Management
2. How expressed behaviors of children can
aid identification of problematic behavior
3. Dealing sensitively with relationship issues
amongst adolescence.
4. Identification of developmental disorders
and learning disabilities
5. Developing a better understanding of peer
influence and the role of family-school
partnership in the psychosocial
development of children.
6. Helping and assisting students to manage
anger and overcome frustration.
Methodology used-

CLASSROOM EDUCATIONAL VAN on
key childhood and adolescent development,
developmental disorders and learning disabilities.

4. The teachers expressed their strong views that there should be psycho-social education of the
parents to stop the social evil of child marriage. Currently the parents take absolutely no
interest in this/ The system can best work when teachers and parents partner together.
5. Psychosocial and emotional wellbeing of the care givers along with the child is very important
for better, progressive and enhanced facilitation of children.
SMARTGRAM PROJECT INITIATIVE BY RASHTRAPATI BHAVAN
Children Hygiene & Sanitation Education at Dumduma Village (August 2017)
The workshop was held at senior secondary school in Dum Duma village 30th August, 2017. It was
attended by kids of age group 10-13 years. The workshop was conducted inside the MOBILE
CLASSROOM EDUCATIONAL VAN they were shown videos regarding “helping each other”,
“clean India, green India” and “Parenting” which was followed by discussions
The Methods/Tools that were used to make the workshop more interactive were:
Audio visual presentation on parenting, unity in diversity (Lead India) and environmental
protection.
Role plays on health and hygiene, balance diet and adolescent issues and brainstorming on
gender issues.
The Learning Outcomes of the workshop were:
Helping students understand the importance of basic health and hygiene
Discussion was made on day to day problems of children in the particular age group.
Helping them develop a better understanding of their relationship with parents.
Children were apprised and briefed about the importance of balance diet.

INTERNATIONAL YOUNG FILM MAKERS FESTIVAL 2017
at National Science Centre, New Delhi (August 2017)
The International Young Film Makers Festival 2017 was held on 23rd & 24th August 2017 at National
Science Centre, New Delhi. Objective of the festival was is to encourage young creative minds in
schools to come up and utilize the audiovisual
technology; short films to convey meaningful social
messages to the civil society, programmers & policy
makers, portraying major issues of national concern,
thereby enhancing the application of Life Skills &
Values Education in schools. It is a growing opportunity
to appreciate the impact of films as a medium to
transform thoughts and emotions of the future nation
builders
The film festival was made even more interesting for learning via MOBILE CLASSROOM
EDUCATION VAN by the screening of film
based on holistic health and wellbeing. After
each screening a focused group discussion
was done in the Van leading to effective brain
storming sessions. Hence being the most
effective and resource full tool for making this
event interesting.
The teachers also participated in interaction
with mental health expert on Teacher/ Counselor Leadership for Inclusive Practices and Effective
Career Choices. The students participated in hands on, interactive and participatory Training in
„Leadership for Life Skills‟, Gender Sensitization workshops to enhance their skills as peer educators.
These intense sessions were balanced off by a short informational session on performing arts and
links with well being.
SMARTGRAM PROJECT INITIATIVE BY RASHTRAPATI BHAVAN
Teacher's Training Program at Teekli Village (September 2017)
The Workshop was held at Government School at Teekli Village on 6th September, 2017. It was
attended by 17 teachers of Govt. Middle School as well as Govt. Primary School along with
approximately 90 students in the age group of 11-16 years
Methodology / Techniques used :
Interesting and interactive sessions on key adolescent problems.
Role plays on basic health and hygiene (sleep hygiene, food hygiene) and family related issues.

VAN
Health and hygiene Chart papers was showed to the students.
Brain storming on gender related issues and cultural norms.
The topics discussed and the learning outcomes were:
Assisting students to understand the importance of daily hygiene.
Dealing with relationship issues amongst adolescents.
Helping adolescents to cope with anger issues and conquer frustration.
Helping students to develop a better understanding of the role of family and school in the
overall development of students.
SMARTGRAM PROJECT INITIATIVE BY RASHTRAPATI BHAVAN
Students Workshop at Darbaripur Village (September 2017)
The Workshop was held in Senior Secondary School at Darbaripur Village on 8th
September, 2017. It was attended by 200 students of the age group 13-18 years.
Sessions were interactive and the topics discussed were
Helping Students to understand key adolescent issues like substance abuse, peer
pressure and the importance of Classroom Management
Helping them understand different types of substance available and their harmful
effects.
Identification of substance dependence

Developing a better understanding of peer
influence and the role of family-school
partnership in the psychosocial
development of students.
Helping and assisting students to
overcome peer pressure
Understanding the role of teachers as a
Counselor and facilitator.
Methodology used
Audio visual presentation on substance abuse and peer pressure inside the MOBILE
CLASSROOM EDUCATIONAL VAN followed by brain storming session.
Brain storming on how to deal with the issue of substance abuse and peer influence
among students.
Learning outcomes and the road ahead-
Students expressed their views on variety of substances used in that area. They
suggested that there is a need for education of the parents on the issue of substance
abuse and there is need for their involvement.
Alcohol dependence should be taken up as cause for psycho-education.
There was a suggestion that there should be more workshops and sessions that can
educate students regarding the issue of substance abuse and peer influence.
