Report of the 8th International and the 10th Japan-China Joint
Symposium on Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis (CATS-2017)
and the 53rd Japan Conference on Calorimetry and Thermal
Analysis (JCCTA53)
The 8th International and the 10th Japan-China Joint Symposium on Calorimetry and Thermal
Analysis (CATS-2017) and the 53rd Japan Conference on Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis
(JCCTA53) were held at Fukuoka University on 2 – 4 Nov. and on 4 – 6 Nov. in 2017, respectively.
The chair and the vice chair of CATS-2017 were Prof. Takayoshi Kimura (Kindai University) and
Prof. Hatsumi Aki (Fukuoka University), who was also the chair of JCCTA53.
The program consisted of three plenary lectures and seven sessions “Instrumental, Analytical,
Kinetics and General”, “Inorganic Materials, Ceramics and Metals”, “Organic Materials and
Polymers”, “Solution, Colloid and Interface”, “Heat Capacity and Phase Transitions”,
“Environment and Energy”, and “Biothermodynamics, Including Food, Pharmaceutical and
Medical Applications” which included oral and poster presentations. Prof. Xiaozheng Lan
(Shandong Agricultural University, China), who had been a foreign researcher of RCST, Osaka
University, and Prof. Nakazawa organized the session “Heat Capacity and Phase Transitions”. In
this session, Prof. Yasuhiro Nakazawa and Dr. Hal Suzuki had oral presentations and Ms. Mariko
Noguchi had a poster presentation.
In JCCTA53, Prof. Ashis Bhattacharjee (Visva-Baharati University), who had been a foreign
researcher of RCST, Osaka University, gave an invited lecture with the title of “Non-Isothermal
Thermogravimetry: Present Standing & Looking Ahead”. Dr. Satoshi Yamashita, Dr. Hal Suzuki,
and I had oral presentations and Dr. Yoji Horii, Mr. Shusaku Imajo, Mr. Tetsuya Nomoto, Ms. Yuki
Matsumura, Mr. Masaki Nishizawa, and Mr. Sotarou Fukuchi had poster presentations.
