REPORT ON RESEARCH METHODOLOGY WORKSHOP CONDUCTED

Research Methodology workshop was organized by Center for Medical Genetics (CMG) on

5th

august 2017 at Kumararani Meena Muthiah College of Arts and Science (KRMMC),

Chennai. About 63 persons including faculty and delegates who were lecturers, students,

clinicians, PhD scholars, from various colleges attended the workshop.

The event was divided into 4 sessions with 2 tea breaks and a lunch break. The registration

for the program began at 8:30a.

MoU signing event between CMG and KRMMC also took place on the same day.

SESSION 1

The first session begun with Dr. Arun Kumar’s talk on Asking Clinically Answerable Research

Question and Design of Clinical Research .

This was followed by a tea break.

SESSION 2

Session 2 began with a talk by Dr. Solomon F D Paul on Literature Survey & Managing

References after which MoU signing event took place.

Vlidity of Measures which was followed by Mrs. Valarmathi’s talk on Determination of

Sample Size

SESSION 3

Post-lunch, session 3 began with a talk by Dr. Chinnaiyan Ponnuraja on Statistical Plan .

Due to unseen circumstances, Dr. Ramprasad Srinivasan couldn’t join us for program. He

was replaced by Dr. Srinivasan Vedantham who gave a talk on "From Research Idea to

Commercialization . A tea-break was announced at the end of the session.

SESSION 4

The valedictory ceremony was held during this session. The session began with a combined

group work by all the participants in the preparation of a research protocol which was

guided by Dr. Arun Kumar.

The Valedictory ceremony commenced with an invocation song by Dr. S Uthra. Ms. Prasanna

Samuel then gave the welcome address, following which the chief guest and special invitee

of the valedictory Prof. G S Chandraleka and Mrs. C K Babini were honoured by Mrs. Padmini

K Manickavel.

Dr. Arun Kumar, the key faculty of the event was felicitated by Prof. G S Chandraleka.
