Background: The committee will conduct a survey to compile an inventory of health curricula, evaluation instruments, and impact indicators.

Conference Background - The Committee will
continue to host a Middle Management Conference every other year. We held a highly successful conference this past April in Blacksburg, VA. Georgia will host the Middle Management Conference April 6-9, 2009 in Athens Georgia.

Urban Pre-Conference Meeting
Background – The Middle Manager’s Committee of the Program Leadership Network have held successful urban conferences for the past several years. A pre-conference meeting to discuss urban programming issues for Extension will be held prior to next year’s joint PLN/AEA/ASRED meeting. This will be added to the PLN agenda.

Succession Planning for Middle Management Positions
Background –The MM Committee, in cooperation with PSD, has begun to develop desirable competencies, as well as barriers and incentives, to the development of a qualified applicant pool for these positions.
We will be working with the PSD to develop an inventory of all leadership and management curricula available within the south to be used to give direction to the establishment of training and development experiences (ie. Job shadowing, mentoring, CECP curriculum, etc.) The goal is to develop a training program for identified candidates for middle management positions.

CECP
Background – CECP progress in 4-H Youth Development has been a concern. 4-H YD should have 20 CECP modules up by October 1, 2007. Pilot and jury process including 18 professionals will be established.

4-H CCS Background – CCS is in transition to
National 4-H Council, including start-up and sustainability funds ($1m plus) with no legal documentation regarding the process or how funds will be used. 4-H YD committee will communicate with National HQ and National Council concerning the urgent need for a MOU or other legal document correcting this situation.
