Christ Is Risen! Christ Is Risen Indeed!

Easter Sunday was filled with joyful music, beautiful flowers and exultant worshipers. Thanks to all who made that worship possible. Also thanks to all who prepared and served Easter breakfast. And, don’t forget, Easter season continues through the end of May. Continue to in-vite friends and family to come and worship with you.

The Call Committee continues the work to finish the congregational profile to give to the Synod. Then names will be given to the committee to consider for the Pastor at St. Luke’s. Pray for them and thank them for their work.

On April 28-30 the NTNL Synod will gather for the annual assembly in Plano. I look forward to being there with Carol and Denny Brant as we represent St. Luke’s.

Christ Is Risen! Christ Is Risen Indeed! Pastor Mary Kaiser

On Friday, May 26th the Social Seniors will meet at the church at 12:15 p.m. and carpool to the Bath House Cultural Center to attend the 1:30 Productions play: Tea for Three. Elaine Bromka gives an overview of the kindly and dutiful

Lady Bird Johnson, the welcoming but wounded Pat Nixon, and the chatty and bold Betty Ford in recollections that are light without being trivial; we learn of their feelings, their opinions of the country, and their plans for the future, as she gives an indirect look at the changing roles of women during dynamic times. The cost is $12 for the play. Pay Shirley Brouillette or Ursula Peters for our ticket to reserve your seat by May 16th. Questions? Call Shirley, 972596-8640 or Ursula, 972-231-3103. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the Gathering Area.

The “God’s Work. Our Hands” day will take place on September 10th. We are planning to be part of the Rich-ardson Interfaith event filling packets of food for Feeding Children Every-

where. This will be the third year we have joined in this important effort. We will have a sign up sheet on the bulletin board later this summer. We will again wear our yellow t-shirts and if you don’t have one, please let Gail know. The deadline to order shirts is July 20.

Thank you to everyone who donated items to the Lutheran World Relief kits this year and espe-cially to those who spent a good part of the day on the Wednesday after Easter to pack, seal and deliv-er the boxes to the shipping place. They packed up 83 quilts, 104 school kits, 109 health kits, 97 baby

care kits, 4 sewing fabric kits plus an extra 16 pounds of bar soap. The women work on these projects on the first Wednesday of each month all year long. They can always use an extra pair of hands or two—or more. The next activity day is May 3rd. Beginning at 9 a.m. Call Brenda Milner if you are interested in getting involved with this busy group.

Faith is the first factor in a life devoted to service. Without it, nothing is possible. With it, nothing is impossible. Martin Luther

Booksome Ladies

The Booksome Ladies will meet on Wednesday, May 17th, at 9:30 a.m., in the Adult classroom. Still Life With Bread Crumbs by Anna Quindlen is our book for discussion. This novel begins with an imag-ined gunshot and ends with a new tin roof. Between the two is an intriguing portrait of Rebecca Winter, a pho-tographer whose work made her an unlikely heroine for many wom-en. Her career is now descending, her bank balance is shaky, and she has fled the city for the middle of nowhere. There she discovers, in a grove of trees, with a roofer named Jim Bates, that what she sees through a camera lens is not all there is to life. The author has written a deeply moving story of unexpected love in the journey of a woman as she discovers that life is a story with many levels, a story that is longer and more exciting than she ever imagined. Quindlen is a versatile writ-er: fiction, nonfiction, and books for children. You will not be disap-pointed in her work! ALL ARE WELCOME to come and enjoy the fellowship of this friendly group. Peace and joy, Martha Eastwood

Thanks to Tanner McEwan and his Scout troop for replacing the old shrubs with new plants and flowers on either side of the front doors of the church. This was Tanner’s Eagle Scout project. The gardens look terrific!
